Call of Duty's Blackout Player Count Just Increased by Eight

There’s a lot of buzz surrounding Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s new Battle Royale-themed Blackout mode, and it seems like developer Treyarch’s making some pretty impressive adjustments on the fly. With the beta in progress on the PlayStation 4, game design director David Vonderhaar has confirmed on Twitter that the mode’s player count has increased from 80 to 88 today.

While this is still short of the genre’s standard 100 players, we get the distinct feeling that the studio will hit that target eventually – and judging by this story, that may even occur prior to launch on 12th October. Unfortunately I can't try Blackout unless you preorder the game and I am not going to drop $60 for just one mode. I have been watching some streams of it on YouTube and to be honest I like what I see and I wasn't a big fan of Fortnite. Probably pick this up when it hits the bargin bin.

I mean it actually looks decent so I should give them props but I have seen videos where the TTK with armor is a little high. A whole mag should be able to drop someone even with armor.

@Jaz007 Nope, cause let's be honest people don't buy CoD games for single player mode, they buy it for multiplayer.

@Tasuki just preorder from Amazon, doesnt charge until release and you would still get access. But I like you have been watching streams and am quite impressed. HAve never been a COD fan even though I love FPS mostly. I watch my kids play Fortnite all the time and this seems like a grown up version of it imo. This may actually get me to buy a COD game for the first time ever, looks great!

I watched some today and thought it looked like a dull experience. Graphics looked dull as well.

Im not the biggest fan of cod but what it does get right is the solid smooth gameplay mixing that in with a Battle Royal mode is pretty great im actually quite excited to try out blackout

@Tasuki According to the achievements, more people complete the story mode in most CoD games than reach Prestige 1 in multiplayer, which does not take that long to do. Just sayin.

@TeslaChippie Sorry but I don't buy that unless you have some proof. Several delevopers Activision, Respawn, Bungie have said that more people play the MP then even complete the single player campaign.

In fact Activision has gone on record and said that more people hit Master Prestige in CoD: WWII then finished the campaign.

So why would Studios spend millions of dollars on something if no one is going to finish to where as that money can go elseware. Makes perfect business sense to me.

Still no buy.... No single player. Not a good look to support a game that takes away a main staple of the franchise...

Having preordered the game and having access to the multiplayer and blackout betas I'm impressed! Was a little sceptical at first but that went out the window after my first game! Millions of people play PUBG and fortnite but I'm not that into those, this is just what COD fans who like battle royale need! All of ya'll who have "watched videos" I can honestly say the videos don't do it justice! Play it for yourselves and your opinions will probably change! It's awesome and highly addictive! And runs better than most BR games (pubg xbox take note)
