Ass Creed Odd 5

Ubisoft is trying something new with Assassin's Creed Odyssey, giving players a choice between two modes of play at the start of the game. One is 'Guided Mode', and the other is 'Exploration Mode'.

Regardless of which mode you choose the actual content of the game doesn't change, but your journey through the open world may differ massively as a result. Guided Mode is a "more traditional experience", the summary reads. "Markers are displayed at all times, and objectives are given to you automatically." In other words, this is the standard Assassin's Creed-style structure, with objective markers telling you exactly where you should be going.

In contrast, Exploration Mode won't give you markers to chase -- you'll need to hunt down your objectives and really explore the world in order to discover what you should be doing next. This might include talking to non-playable characters or simply wandering off on your own to find a lead. "The user must investigate the world to uncover targets and quest objectives," the description reads. "This is the way Assassin's Creed Odyssey is meant to be played," apparently.

It's an interesting approach, and yet another recent example of games giving players more freedom. Which mode will you be choosing? Get out and explore the comments section below.
