Ass Creed Odd 1

Yet more details on Assassin's Creed Odyssey have hit the web thanks to Game Informer's ongoing coverage, with a particular highlight being the game's dynamic war between Sparta and Athens. "The world is a moving chessboard, with 28 city-states," creative director Jonathan Dumont told the publication.

Basically, you'll be able to influence the war, and therefore the open world, by taking on assignments. Both the Spartans and the Athenians are in need of your strength, so you get to decide on which army you want to help. However, there's a twist in that your status as a mercenary means that you aren't loyal to a single cause. In other words, you can switch sides whenever you like. Maybe one army is offering better rewards, or perhaps you want to weaken the opposition in a specific region -- it's entirely your call.

"The player will have in-game actions that they can perform that will weaken the state – killing soldiers, destroying their war supplies, stealing their national treasure and then ultimately killing their leader, which will make them the most vulnerable," game director Scott Phillips explains. It sounds like your regular Assassin's Creed busywork, but this time around, it'll all tie into the war between Sparta and Athens.

And it looks like this whole war system will offer a near endless supply of quests and freeform activities, much like the previously reported mercenary system. Game Informer writes that the war will continue even after you've made your mark, with regions once again falling into disarray over time. Clearly, Odyssey is going to offer a crazy amount of content to chew through.
