NBA 2K18 may have found itself at the centre of a microtransaction storm, but the series is still ballin’, with the latest edition selling a milestone 10 million units worldwide. That’s a franchise record, and double the average number of sales for all previous versions.
“NBA 2K18 is our highest-selling sports title ever,” said Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick. “The ability to improve consistently upon an annual series and grow its audience reflects [developer Visual Concepts’] drive to remain on the leading-edge of pop culture and finding new and exciting ways to captivate and engage players.”

The casual fan doesn't care about microtransactions.
They sold it to the largest possible audience across....5? Platforms? So that helped.
One of the best sports franchises so yeah, it doesn't surprise me!
