With Marvel's Spider-Man just days away, Sony is kicking things up a gear in the lead up to launch. The latest information comes courtesy of Insomniac Games' community director, James Stevenson, who's taken to the PlayStation Blog to outline the DLC schedule for the game, collectively known as The City That Never Sleeps.
We now know that the first part of the DLC will be called The Heist, and it'll launch on 23rd October, just a handful of weeks after the main game.
"The first chapter of Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps is Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist, and it will be released on October 23. As you play the base game, you’ll realize that Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat, is back in town and she’s leaving clues around town to toy with Spider-Man. In Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Heist, she finally reveals herself. Featuring new missions and challenges, as well as a brand new faction of enemies and three additional suits to unlock, you won’t want to miss it."
The latter two chapters of The City That Never Sleeps also received rough release windows. The second chapter, Turf Wars, will be made available in November, and the third, entitled Silver Lining, will launch in December. The three add-ons will be available separately or can be bought together via a season pass.
What do you think of Insomniac's DLC strategy for Marvel's Spider-Man? Will you be expanding Spidey's adventure with The City That Never Sleeps? Swing by the comments below.

Sounds good but also very pricey. Need to see how long they are, etc. I suspect they'll be short.
I wasn't aware this game even had a season pass until just now.
I'm glad they are all coming out very soon after the main game because I usually have little interest in going back to a game a year after finishing it..unless the dlc is an expansion.
That’s really soon, I will definitely buy the season pass. I really don’t care about dlcs for most of games, but games like Spider-Man and Horizon are another beast.
@LaNooch1978 $25/€25
@LaNooch1978 Like £20 yeah!
I can tell from Silver Sable that Insomniac wants to put their own spin on the villains. And that's just fine. But if they want to be more faithful with Black Cat and squeeze her into that leather catsuit, it might not be the worst thing in the world.
Will convince some to wait for the GOTY edition. I will be buying the base game on release and get the season pass, but only when on sale and if the dlc reviews well
@LaNooch1978
$20
Any word yet on if these DLC stories take place during or after the main game? Kinda hoping that it's the latter...
@LaNooch1978
I'm with you. I don't have a problem with them detailing this stuff early but I know it's going to cause something of an uproar at other places. Getting the DLC info out there is important but I kind of wish they'd have just let the hype for the base game speak for itself and there's enough time between launch day and the release of the first DLC that it could've been advertised at a different point.
The third city that never sleeps part villian should be obvious right? I mean “silver lining”? Silver sable anybody?
And turf wars, hammerhead maybe?
I'm tempted but at that price I'll wait and see. The season pass probably makes the most sense but I'm still weary or paying for what I haven't seen yet.
I preordered the $80 edition, so I'm already on board for these. I tend to preorder one, maaaaaybe two games per year, this one absolutely made the cut.
I'm actually about a quarter into the book they put out that ties into this game. So far it's better than I expected it to be, not great, but I'm enjoying it.
@get2sammyb I can see them being 3 to 4 hours long which I think is fine for 10 apiece
@LaNooch1978 Really? AK DLC was amazing, in my opinion.
There's lots of other games I'm eager to play at the moment, so I might wait until all this DLC has been released before getting it.
I prefer big expansion like horizon the frozen throne, but yes, I plan to buy the spiderman digital deluxe version which include season pass.
Not too keen on season pass especially so close after release. There's usually a lot of negativity about it so I'm not sure in what way this one would be better. Fair enough, its up to them to include whatever they want in the main game and I can't wait to play it. Then RDR2 happens.
@LaNooch1978
Extra content is fair enough. Released so close after the main game doesn't feel right tbh. Meaning why is it not in the game after all?
@LaNooch1978 Oh, I do see your point from that perspective. I do also feel that this planned DLC for Spidey from the start feels like holding back content just to increase the cost of the game. I might wait for the GOTY version at a discount, as a result. In fact, that's what I did for Arkham Knight and for Witcher 3, getting great bargains.
Mmm, I love cut content that's resold to me slightly later
What a disappointment, I guess I wait for the complete edition for 20 next year just like horizon plus I gonna be busy with Dragon Quest anyways
Just the base game for me, most dlc is trash.
Wow, that's a short release window! Glad I bought the Deluxe Edition.
@LaNooch1978 Yes, DLC is annoying to me, and especially when it comes out immediately following the game release. I understand they want to rope people in while the game is still hot and relevant, but it does beg the question of why it was not just included in the game. I’ve voiced my disdain for pre-release announcements of DLC before (see Soul Calibur 6) and I guess I just have to come to grips with the fact this is the way publishers have now increased the price of games. To get the whole game you need to plop down $80 now instead of $60. 😔
Not that impressed as they've chopped content out of the main game to put into DLC
The character teases you in the main game and only reveals themselves in a paid DLC which comes out a few weeks later!? That's just disgusting, very dirty tactics.
uuuuuurgh.
Didn't realise they were doing this.
Any word on completion time?
I'd say that I got at least a good 30 hours out of TASM2 for the plat and added to that a bit of messing about.
Even their own Second Son was a solid 30 hour plat.
If this is just a 12 hour game then you need DLC - I must admit I'll be thinking again.
I do like when the dlc is part of the main game and not something you choose from start menu.
Ugh, announcing DLC before the game is even out is a scummy practice. I will vote with my wallet on this.
Hearing this news has made me consider whether to buy this day one or not. One of my main peeves with gaming at the moment season passes and announcing dlc before the game is out.
@get2sammyb Now I'm very confused. I pre-ordered Marvel’s Spider-Man Digital Deluxe Edition which includes The City That Never Sleeps, for €79,99. That is only 10€ more compared to the Standard Version (€69,99).
Digital Deluxe Edition Includes:
*Users will receive DLC by March 2019.
**Only available to US and Canada customers
Description copied from the US Store, because you surely wouldn't understand the German text.
@SMKpaladin Well I guess they're doing you a "deal" for going all in. If you want it all, then that's the cheapest way to get it.
@wiiware @Shepherd_Tallon @Enuo @PS_Nation @Wazeddie22 @DLB3 Same here guys! I normally never pre-order games at all or get the DLC too, but this is freaking Spider-Man by Insomniac/Marvel Studios !
I know what I'll be playing for multiple weekends in September and maybe October too .
@Rob_230 @GKO900 @doctommaso Normally I'd do the exact same thing, wait for the GOTY Edition during a BF/Holiday 2019 sale etc.
However this is my most anticipated game of the year, I LOVE Spider-Man/Marvel, and I want to support them day one if it means them making Spider-Man 2, another Marvel game, or more Ratchet & Clank/Spyro...
Same reason why I plan to pre-order Spyro: Reignited Trilogy and Kingdom Hearts III.
@glassmusic There's a book? May I have a link please?
@get2sammyb 10€ seems like a good deal to me, even if I don't really know whats in the package.
In the worst case, these chapters only add an extra hour per DLC, but that's still OK for me, as long as the base game is as entertaining as it looks.
@KidBoruto here is the link to the paperback:

And oh, dont worry, i have the game preordered. So excited. But i wouldnt worry about this one not being a sales smash for insomniac and sony. It will do very well. My bigger fear is for Dragon Quest and Valkyria Chronicles. Both games really need gamers to demonstrate to Sega and Square that there is an audience for these titles in the west; but i really fear they will get lost between spidey and tomb raider - not to mention the other games coming out in October time.
@KidBoruto Yeah it's hard to wait tbh. Spidey was my first comic as a kid, and also my good online friend is a huge fan and wants to run the game together... So I probably will end up just buying it day one anyway, even though I'm trying to convince myself otherwise. lol
@KidBoruto Here’s the US link:

I’m about half through it now. I’m enjoying it! So far I’d give it 3.5/5. I’m not sure how much more insight I’ll have when I start the game but the book establishes the world the game takes place in. It’s made me realize that I’d read the heck out of Marvel and DC novels like this.
@Shepherd_Tallon and Rob I should have mentioned I live in the U.S., but thanks for the link regardless .
@Rob_230 I'm happy to hear you did pre-order Spider-Man PS4 ! Fair point, and don't forget that SEGA is also releasing Fist of the North Star soon too.
@doctommaso Always nice to meet another follow comic nerd that grew up with Spider-Man as his first comic .
I highly recommend buying the DLC too eventually during a sale.
@glassmusic Thanks for the US link! Sadly it seems they're running low on stock, I'll already be a good portion into the game by the time my copy of the comic/graphic novel arrives.
I'm really happy to hear that the DLC will involve Black Cat, that just makes me want this game even more! With the Venom movie coming in October, I'm also curious if they'll add a Venom DLC, preferably the Eddie Brock version.
Another thing I think could be potentially interesting would be DLC that takes place prior to the main game, perhaps showcasing more of Spider-Man and Kingpin's fight.
Now I'll just wait for the inevitable "GotY" or "Complete" edition, so I'll have the full game without the bits they cut out.
@LaNooch1978
I think if it was a full blown $50 season pass, or they gave us very little content to begin with and locked everything behind a paywall I would be annoyed. But $79.99 for a full game to play right away and promised additional content in Oct, Nov and Dec sounds great
@get2sammyb Just bought it a pawn shop and the DLC code wasn't used! A well spent 10$
