What upcoming PSVR games are releasing in 2018? Sony’s headset was one of the biggest success stories of 2017, selling over two million units and securing a huge list of high-quality software. But with the accessory more affordable than ever and an ever-expanding catalogue of must-play titles, we’ve compiled a list of forthcoming PlayStation VR releases that must be on your radar.
Not fully playable with PlayStation VR, but boasting an additional campaign designed specifically for Sony’s headset, Bandai Namco’s melodramatic military franchise promises to be the perfect fit for virtual reality, with its high-stakes dogfights and over-the-top action. Do a barrel roll (without chundering)!
The Playroom VR was a wonderful, complimentary demonstration of PSVR’s power – but many hoped that it would be expanded post-launch. For many, mini-platformer Robot Rescue Mission remains one of the best virtual reality experiences available, and it’s only a single level long. Now developer Japan Studio has returned with a full-blown version, boasting multiple stages, boss fights, and much more. Astro Bot Rescue Mission's reveal trailer debuted prior to E3 2018 and hinted at a brilliantly polished experience, with vibrant visuals and plenty of inventive gameplay mechanics. We can’t wait to sample this one in the flesh.
Rhythm violence is fast becoming its own unique genre, and hot on the heels of Thumper comes a motion controlled music-‘em-up where you’re armed with lightsabers and must cut through bricks to the sound of the synths. This one has become a bit of a cult hit on PC-based platforms, so its PSVR arrival can’t come quick enough.
The London Heist was easily the best thing about launch title PlayStation VR Worlds, so we're incredibly excited to see it get a huge follow-up in the form of its very own game. This cockney-driven espionage looks to mix stealth, frantic gun battles, and a bucket full of attitude into a concoction that could be one of PSVR's greatest. It's Danny Dyer meets James Bond, and if that doesn't get you more excited than an EastEnders Christmas Special then we don't know what to tell you.
Ever wanted to commandeer an airship and go to war in the clouds? Tribetoy’s piratical PSVR outing sees you sailing the procedurally generated skies in both co-operative and competitive gameplay modes. You’ll have to commandeer weapons, man your colourful craft, and develop the tactics that will ensure you become king of the skies.
