Gamescom 2018: Have Some New Details on Claire Redfield in Resident Evil 2

Not really digging the new outfit, hopefully there's an option to wear her classic RE2 outfit somewhere in the game.

Looks cool srs hype but her face looks so weird compared to her old model.

The game is looking great, I’ll probably start with Claire’s campaign first.

Nothing has me more hyped than going back into Raccoon City, I'm hoping that RE3 will get the same treatment

Super excited for this, the original was an all time favourite for a long time.
It's release is nicely spaced with my other big games this autumn/winter as well. Should be done with Spidey by the time RDR 2 comes and maybe finished that when this does. Tombraider and Ass Creed Ody can fill any gaps or wait until next year.

@RedMan33 If it sells really well I can see them green-lighting Re3 and maybe more. Code Veronica maybe?

@BearsEatBeets never been a huge fan of CV tbh but I'd love to play it if it was expanded on like the original and this looks to have been, just watch some footage of Claire looking very good

@RedMan33 I played them all up to and including 5 but have to admit I can't really remember if CV was any good. I would probably give any they gave the same treatment as this a go.

@Undead22 Well why change something that was already amazing in the first place(the character model they didn't need to redo the revelations claire they could have went with degeneration Claire I mean there wouldn't be that much difference.

Exactly. This character barely resembles Claire. Changing her attire alone was a dumb move, since the red vest was a memento of Chris and was given to Sherry later on in the original game. The red vest was iconic for her in 2. Even from a visual stand-point, the vest was fantastic. It had an angel holding a bomb and "made in heaven" on it, what we get in it's place is a bland red jacket that looks like she got it on sale at JC Penny. Not having it in the remake is almost sinful. Also not a fan of the jeans instead of hotpants, but this is minor by comparison, since Claire has been doing the jeans thing for a while.

This is to say nothing of how weird her face is (Someone above mentioned she looks old, I agree too) and the fact Alyson Court won't be voicing her again. It's like Capcom can't get this character right. Every version of Claire post Code Veronica has been awful (Save for maybe Degeneration). Here's hoping her personality and character at least stay intact... Also there's a special kind of irony in telling someone they're still "stuck in the past" while discussing a remake of a 20 year old game.

You may be right, as I'm a massive RE2 fan and have been hyped for the remake for a while now. Changes like this though are sometimes enough to push a game from "day 1" to "wait for reviews", or worst case scenario, the dreaded "wait for sale". Right now, this game has been pushed to "wait for reviews" for me simply because I dislike the changes made to Claire. Also don't be so quick to say someone will get over something, the redesign for Jill in RE5 is still a hot topic to this day, with lots of people outright hating that design. I don't think too many people were able to "get over" that.

Hopefully, her classic RE2 outfit will be in the game. I seriously can't imagine that it wouldn't be, considering RE4 had a classic outfit for Leon.

EDIT: To further elaborate on why this is such an annoyance, Leon's RPD uniform is very much iconic and relevant to his character, so his uniform remained intact... yet Claire's original outfit was just as important and for some reason they felt the need to completely change her attire. Why was it okay to tamper with Claire's and not Leon's? It's like Capcom just hates Claire or something. My best guess is they weren't even looking at her RE2 design, but her Revelations 2 design and trying to design her as a younger version of that. Revelations 2 Claire didn't exactly go over well with fans either, so this is baffling to say the least.

@Undead22 Yeah That's the problem why are they using actors to model the character when she was better in Degeneration or Revelations 2.

I mean Why not go with this kind of model 100% faithful to the original vision.

Clearly didn't read a word of my post if that was all you got out of it. Gonna have to repeat what @Hapuc said. Why do you even care what I or any else thinks? If you're fine with it, then that should be good enough. You're not even attempting to make any arguments, points, or counter-arguments. All you're doing is trying to downplay our opinions by using dismissive words like "whine" and "dumb". If it's a dumb thing to "whine" about, then don't respond. Simple as that. Considering how outraged some people were about Capcom changing the name's of the Mavericks in the X Collection, I'd say there are worst things to be annoyed about.

Stop being such a shill, a lot of people don't like her new look. Deal with it. No one even said anything about wanting the "same stuff", you obviously didn't even comprehend anything I wrote. Did I use too many big words or something? My point is that the current version of Claire doesn't really look anything like her. If Leon looks like himself, why did they fail to do the same with Claire?
