The Fallout 76 beta can't be too far away on PlayStation 4, but even though we don't have a concrete date, Bethesda has answered a few key questions over on its official beta FAQ page. Said page has recently been updated with a new question which asks whether the beta will cover the whole game, and whether progress made in the beta will carry over tot he full release in November.
Apparently, the answer to both of those queries is yes. Bethesda says that its current plan for the beta is for it to include the full game, and for all of your progress to then carry over to the finished release. In other words, the beta is going to be Fallout 76 -- you're just going to be able to start early, and hopefully help the developer fix any problems that (will most likely) arise.

Hm, good that it carries over. They must be pretty confident in it. Hopefully the game isn't lacking in content upon release.

I will be shocked if this game isn't a complete mess at launch.
I'd try it, but I'm not going to pre order to get it.
They want the whole game bug tested. It’s gonna fail, it’ll happen. It shows how desperate they are the confidence they have to fix it by themselves.
They lost me soon as I learned multiplayer was the primary focus with single player taking backburner as "solo quests", ala Destiny or Anthem.
