Fate Grand Order PS4 PlayStation 4 1

We’ve reported on Fate/Grand Order a handful of times, but still very few have a grasp on how much money the smartphone hit is spinning for Sony behind-the-scenes. A new financial report from subsidiary Aniplex sheds more light on the matter, however, with its revenue doubling year-over-year from $934 million to $1.8 billion. While there are other components to Aniplex’s business, analyst Dr. Serkan Toto believes that the bulk of the cash is coming from the popular gacha – especially seeing as it released in North America, China, and South Korea prior to the firm’s latest balance sheet.

For those of you who don’t know, Aniplex is owned and operated by Sony Music Entertainment, and so fits under the Japanese giant’s umbrella. This means that, technically, the title is not a Sony Interactive Entertainment product – although there’s no doubt that the games division is trying to replicate its sister subsidiary's success with the formation of the mobile-focused ForwardWorks. It’s got a lot of catching up to do.
