15. Far Cry 3: Classic Edition (PS4)

This port of Far Cry 3 to PS4 is a welcome one, as Ubisoft's open world shooter remains a real treat. The fictional archipelago of Rook Islands makes for a fantastic tropical sandbox that's rife with danger โ€” whether that's from Vaas, now an iconic gaming villain, or the local wildlife. Playing as a rich kid struggling to survive in the harsh wilderness, you gradually become a force to be reckoned with as you take down enemy outposts and upgrade all your weapons.

14. Battlefield 4 (PS4)

13. Battlefield 1 (PS4)

Battlefield 1 broke tradition by opting for the First World War instead of the Second for its setting, which brought with it a lot of novelty and interest. With a decent single player campaign alongside it, Battlefield 1 was a fairly unique online title that remains a highlight of the PS4 era. Its still got a healthy player base, too, so jumping in this much time later shouldn't prove difficult.

12. Far Cry 4 (PS4)

Ubisoft struck gold with the previous game, so it doubled down on that formula for Far Cry 4. With an open world map loosely based on Nepal, the game takes players to another wild, fictional setting filled with aggressive wildlife, enemy encampments, vehicles, and more. It builds upon its predecessor's compelling loop of slowly accruing and upgrading weapons and perks to turn you into a one-man army, and while the story isn't all that memorable, it's still a good time overall.

11. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (PS4)

As is the case with DOOM, Bethesdaโ€™s staked its claim as the masters of reviving old-school first-person franchises. Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus has all of the camp European eccentricities of its predecessor, but it presents them all in the context of a Nazi occupied United States. With bone-rattling gunplay and an engaging storyline, B.J. Blazkowicz is not past it yet.

10. Metro Redux (PS4)

Metro Redux may effectively be a compilation, but it includes two killer games from the PS3 era โ€“ one of which was exclusive to the Xbox 360 at the time. Both bundled games have thick, oppressive atmospheres, and are significantly upgraded in this package.

9. PREY (PS4)

PREY made a valiant attempt to revitalise the franchise, and while it wasn't a big sales success, it remains an engrossing sci-fi thriller. You wake up aboard a mysterious space station, where you're the test subject for the betterment of humanity. Obviously, things go very wrong, and the station is overrun by hostile aliens. Featuring unique enemies, a non-linear location full of details, and imaginative new weapons, it's an atmospheric, tense first-person adventure that'll get under your skin.

8. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered (PS4)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered brings one of the best and most influential first-person shooters to PS4. Though it shows its age somewhat these days, the game's single-player campaign is still fantastic, with some particularly breathtaking moments still holding up very well. The multiplayer is preserved here, too, and is arguably the best part. Again, it's been bettered in the years since, but there's no denying just how much the online functionality of this title changed the landscape. It's still a lot of fun, and there's a certain charm to its simplicity.

7. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (PS4)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare brings back one of the most influential shooters ever in this robust remake. It looks fantastic, plays just as well as you'd expect, and features all the multiplayer goodness you could want. The campaign is the star of the show, though, building on what came before to make it even more cinematic and engaging. One of the better entries in the franchise in recent memory.

6. Wolfenstein: The New Order (PS4)

Wolfenstein is a legendary franchise, but in this contemporary entry, developer MachineGames dragged it into the 21st century. Visceral combat and a sprawling single player campaign, packed with memorable locations, make The New Order one of the better FPS games on the PS4.
