Tennis World Tour will hit the court next month, and developer Breakpoint has released a new trailer detailing the title’s career mode. This is your traditional rags-to-riches affair, as you work your way up from the lower end of the world rankings all the way up to number one. You’ll need to manage your schedule, fitness, and perform on the court in order to take the top spot.
One interesting element is that you’ll be able to take your own personal avatar online, allowing you to show off all the progress you’ve made offline by flaunting your unlocked gear. It all sounds pretty in-depth, although it’s not really ripping up the rule book for sports campaigns, is it? We still reckon Virtua Tennis 4 has the best career mode in tennis games; hopefully this comes close.

I want this to be good but the career mode is hardly unique- it looks very similar to Virtua Tennis 4.
Also, what's 'equipement'?
Mmmmmhhhh i was looking forward to this game... but the gameplay still looks rough around the edges. Ill wait for a review first... if it's half as good as topspin4, i'm in.
@Mergatro1d Rackets and clothing I guess.
AO Tennis is supposed to be terrible (don't know if subsequent updates have changed that?) so it's up to TWT to pick up the baton and ensure there is a decent tennis game on PS4. I can't believe no one has released one for five years on this system? I only need MLB The Show and a tennis game and I've got all sports bases covered! Can't have too many sports games to fall back on!
@get2sammyb I was being a pedant and referring to the spelling. I know what rackets and clothes are
@tomassi The gameplay is alot better now in AO tennis. I have had since launch and it is defiently more challenging now and all the bugs are now ironed out, im really enjoying it. Still not top spin though. Looking forward to Tennis world tour, fingers crossed its as good as it sounds.
@Mergatro1d Whoops, didn't see that. Thanks.
EDIT: Oh, you mean in the trailer? Dammit sir, thought I'd typo'd!
@get2sammyb haha yeah I meant the trailer. I would never question your typing
@get2sammyb must be excited for a Tennis game. He’ll be excited for the both of us.
Is Federer in it?
@AuScott That's interesting to hear, maybe I'll keep it in mind. This is another reason why I don't understand game companies rush releasing things. It got horrific reviews at the time, no one is going to go back and reassess it, so to the publics mind it's just a crap tennis game. Why didn't they just wait a while instead?
Another question, what is the customisability like? Big Ant always have good editing suites (RLL, Don Bradman) because of their FanHub. Have all the worlds stars been created to a good standard, or are you limited to the handful in the game?
@tomassi yeah it was defiently rushed and i would be lying to say i wasn't dissapointed at 1st (At first it had 1 game mode and no cut scenes, so it was very basic for $100AU) but it is well worth a shout now. One thing big ant deserve credit for is the constant updates and adding to gameplay etc)
Well worth a re-review.
The customisation is similar to don bradman. Not many stars come with the game, so you are heavily dependent on other people creating and with such a small base of players at the moment there has been some good and bad haha. Hopefully as it comes to europe more people will create players.
@AuScott Nice one mate, I think it comes out next month over here, so will keep my eye on it. Big Ant games rarely ever go on sale though so it may take a while until the price drops enough for me to consider it.
really looking forward to this, a tennis game with a good career mode is something this gen doesn't (to a lesser extent last gen as well). just have too decide ps4 or switch version.
