Overwatch's Lunar New Year event is returning to the game from the 8th February, and will run for a total of 4 weeks. The event last year, titled Year of the Rooster, consisted of a Capture the Flag mode, new skins and other cosmetic items. This year it's the Year of the Dog, and it sees the return of the Capture the Flag mode with a few twists.

Jeff Kaplan took to the Overwatch YouTube channel to announce the details for the event. Capture the Flag has been switched up slightly with some of the rules being refined. There will no longer be any draws in this mode; instead, each team's flag will just be moved closer to the centre of the map, making it easier to capture until there is a clear winner. Also, using certain hero abilities will cause you to drop the flag. Another nice addition is there will also be a competitive mode for Capture the Flag, with special rewards for both getting ranked and also ranking in the top 500. Jeff also confirmed there will be 6 new legendary skins, 2 of which will be for Mercy and Genji, and a whole host of other cosmetic items.

Lastly, there will be a new map being released that has been specifically designed for Capture the Flag, which will be set in Thailand.
