Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter: World's runaway success has reached a new milestone. Including shipments and digital sales of its popular action RPG, the title has now reached a total of six million.
This figure should come as no surprise; the game has been selling well globally on home consoles, and is already the fastest selling entry in the series. In fact, it's the fastest selling game in Capcom's history.
Looks like former Famitsu editor Hirokazu Hamamura's prediction of 10 million lifetime sales wasn't so far off the mark after all.

But. But. But. šš¤š¤«
Wow! Amazing results! The game is very good! A few problems here and there, but amazing overall.
Good to see a different kind of game shine!
What an amazing success. I certainly wasn't expecting it to be Capcom's fastest selling game ever, that's mad!
And there are still people arguing this was a bad decision. What will be interesting to see is when it comes time for a sequel, how many people return. But for World, the right decision was to go with PS4 and Xbox One.
Do Not Underestimate The Power of Playstation
@YummyHappyPills yup. Let's not forget the thousands upon thousands it's sold on xb1
Deserved, it's an absolutely brilliant game.
Didn't really consider it a gamble. Popular series on a home console with beautiful graphics. What could go wrong?
@YummyHappyPills
I'd rather take the wait and see approach. XX might not come over, but there's no way Switch won't get MH in some form.
@YummyHappyPills
Capcom has made some money on Switch, MH will be there in some form and I'll be buying it.
@KingdomHeartsFan I wouldn't necessarily call Capcom a smart publisher, mind.
@YummyHappyPills Japan? Yes
West? Flip no...
@get2sammyb Butts
Cause it's their best! I miss some of the difficulty in the PSP ones, but I'm hopeful we'll get that back when/if G rank is added. Dang near flawless otherwise.
@NathanUC 4U has that difficulty particularly w the level quest
Generations has it w the deviants
But the people on the internet said otherwise.
Deserved, it's great fun. Must admit I'm surprised it's selling faster than any Resident Evil or Street Fighter game. But there's clearly a lot of love and attention to detail that has gone into this so perhaps word of mouth is working well for it now. I would definitely recommend it. Bungie & Ubisoft could learn a lot from this for their poor attempts at implementing loot hunting.
I was expecting this to do well, but the level of success has been surprising. And it only launched just now.
As with USFII, nice to see Capcom does not need my money. This success will make them avoid new IPs even more.
Wait, what? This game was supposed to fail. It doesnāt make sense. Lol
Congrats Capcom! Quality is abundance in this game and great reviews really helped put the word out. Oh and battling monsters on a big 4k screen really increases the atmosphere! What I love about this version of MH is grouping up with a bunch of randoms and slapping a monster to bits! The comradarie is awesome! As I got older some of my mates prefer other games and there was a fear of losing that gaming Co op spirit. However the PlayStation community is awesome and co op is strong in this game! I love it when a high level hunter is in the pack and I can just sit back and chillax a bit more lolol.
I love my Switch and I've played the last two 3DS Monster Hunter...my opinion: MH is fantastic and at home on the best platforms possible. The locales are gorgeous and the monsters are even more lifelike. I can't go back to 3DS/low poly graphics.
Iām confused. Thought it had to be on the Switch to even do decent.
The best Capcom game in years...
@MadAussieBloke I can't stop watching it!!!!
@Bliquid
Yes, I appreciate games like Arms or Octopath Traveller when they show up. I also like how MHW proves MT are not mandatory to success.
