No pressure, Naughty Dog: The Last of Us: Part II won the award for the Most Anticipated release at The Game Awards 2017. Despite a huge number of nominations, it was actually the only Sony published title to win an award, in an evening where The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild utterly dominated.
There was good news for PlayStation console exclusives, though, with NieR: Automata taking the Best Music award and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice rightfully scooping a handful of gongs, too. What Remains of Edith Finch also did well, winning the Best Narrative award. Meanwhile, Persona 5 won Best Role-Playing Game, while Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was deemed Best VR Game.
All of the nominations are below, with the winners highlighted in bold.

Super excited for both TLOUII and MHW but I voted for the latter because the last time I played a MH game was probably 13 years ago.
i'll be honest i'm not interested in TLOU2, i didn't eve like the first one (que the angry fanboy responses)
out of that list i'm more excited for God of War and Spider-Man personally
Can't really argue with those results, to be honest! In a year of amazing nominees, there were no weak links.
Great show overall, I thought
Kudos to Ninja Theory, Hellblade did great last night.
no horizon award? this seems really weird
I can't say the Last of Us 2 was my most anticipated game - not with RDR2 on the list. What was most interesting though was that Sony's exclusives made up 3 out of the 5 nominations with the other 2 multi-platform releases. This shows how strong Sony's upcoming games are. My most anticipated Sony game wasn't even on the list - Days Gone.
I can't say I agree overall with the awards - some were well deserved like Hellblade for example but even in some of those, if the award had gone to one of the other nominations, it would have been well deserved too.
I can't say I am surprised by Zelda. I do think though that the games industry give Zelda and to a lesser degree Mario a free pass - maybe its Nostalgia or the fact that these have such a long history and still going strong - but I don't think BOTW is a worthy winner. I know some will disagree but that's my opinion. I would rather play a lot of the older games - where I don't feel like I have to avoid combat in case my weapons break etc. There are games with much stronger narrative, better audio, more impressive visuals, voice acting etc but each to their own...
I am sure Guerrilla Games are more than happy to have been nominated in a lot of categories. OK so they didn't win but at least their work and effort was recognised. I can't imagine Killzone would have got so many nominations and for a new IP, to be beaten by games with a long history, is not a bad thing. To be nominated means they are one of the top 5 games released this year - that's still an honour.
Yeah Horizon not winning any awards is a strange one, but I guess it's a mark of how high the quality is across the board this year.
Happy for Cuphead to pick up a few, as well as Hellblade getting a couple of deserved pieces of recognition.
Still haven't played much of Zelda yet but my top 3 of this year have been: Cuphead, Horizon, & Mario (in that order, I think).
The Game Awards winners were a good selection all around. Japanese console games are back with a vengeance! Really glad to see Nintendo's beautiful new epic won the big award.
Completely uninterested in TLOU Part II, but Sony still has some good stuff coming next year. I'm particularly interested in that remake of Shadow of the Colossus.
Interesting to see how many 1st party Sony and Nintendo games are on the shortlists, and how few Microsoft. Not trying to fan any flames here, just can't help but think how glad I am that I didn't go Xbox this generation.
@Mergatro1d Hard for first-party games to receive nominations when you barely release any. 2017 saw Halo Wars 2 and... what... a racing game?
Microsoft has nothing to offer in terms of either Japanese or exclusive games this gen, and the Xbox One is pretty much just a Western third-party box at this point.
With all the trailers shown last night and even a segment with Andrew House it makes it even more baffling that Sony aren't doing a PSX conference.
God of war is my most anticipated games.i l💖ve God of war.the best PlayStation franchise ever.can't wait.word up son
I went with Spider-Man only because I expect we'll get it much sooner than TLoU Part II.
As for the awards, I'm glad I'm not a betting man because I thought there were two guarantees... Horizon to win at least one award and PUBG to take Game of the Year given its popularity and how much the gaming media loves to push publishers' narrative that single player is dead.
Horizon didn't win anything, it shows how garbage is TGA. Well, this is the same award who gave the GOTY to Overwatch.
The Last of Us 2 will be amazing, but it will not be released in 2018.
@adf86 True, PSX is way better to watch than this.
They could show Dreams and Death Stranding there, also updates like trailers or gameplay for games like God of War, Spider-Man, Detroit, Monster Hunter. It would be awesome.
Sony should focus on PSX, not waste their time with TGA.
Uncharted 4 not winning last year proves that this award is a joke.
@FullbringIchigo Agreed me too...
RDR2 is probably my most anticipated of all games now...
@Ralizah yeah, releasing games would be a start!
Nier deserved more, best chinese game is a somewhat weird category.
