SoulCalibur VI has received a fresh trailer at PlayStation Experience 2017, showcasing some more in-depth gameplay as Mitsurugi and Sophitia duel on a newly revealed stage. We're sure this'll be one for the more hardcore fighting game fans to analyse, as it seems to highlight a number of different mechanics.
Right off the bat, it's clear that there's a super move system in place here, alongside some sort of parrying mechanic. It looks promising anyway, and we're looking forward to seeing more before its release in (we suspect) the second half of 2018.
What do you make of SoulCalibur VI so far? Let the sparks fly in the comments section below.

looks nice,was sure the series died so it better be good
Does no one else think the character models are really weak?
@get2sammyb A bit but I don't think they're as bad as KoF, though.
@get2sammyb You're absolutely mad. What's weak about them?
I don't mind the weak models as long as it provides the same quality gameplay from the classics SC II & III. I saw some old moves from Mitsurugi which made me smile and some new ones form Sophitia (as well as the amazing rack) so I only hope it won't take ages to pull them off on the controller. Looking forward to it, although my nostalgia betrayed me 2 times before in the face of Wipeout and Micro Machines World Series...
@ShogunRok
They're not very good? I'm not knowledgeable enough of these matters to tell you why, but the character models aren't far off what I'd expect to find in a cheap knock-off.
@get2sammyb Her face is a bit dodgy, but Sophitia has always looked like that? Cheap-knock off is a reeeeeal stretch, game clearly looks great in motion.
@ShogunRok Mitsurugi's not much better:
I agree it looks fine in motion.
@get2sammyb I just don't see what's wrong with them at all. Like, what did you expect?
@get2sammyb No, the models are great. Also remake of SC1, so they're probably meant to reference those designs instead of making completely new designs.
They're barely a step forward from PS3, though. (In fact, I actually prefer these PS3 designs.)
SoulCalibur, ever since the Dreamcast, has routinely blown me away with each entry. I don't think this version looks bad, and it's probably still early, but I do think the models are underwhelming.
Of course, much criticism was pointed at Injustice 2's character models prior to release and they really came together at the last minute, so I imagine we will see similarly big improvements here.
@get2sammyb Absolutely agree with that SC upto the 3rd game was stunning in comparison to the other fighters, maybe namco lost alot of talent through the years as they dont seem as technically competent.
I’m with @get2sammyb on this. I think the models look just okay. Hopefully it will improve or that the gameplay will just take center stage.
Or we can just depend on the acting quality 😜
I want Lizard Man.
I’ll get my coat.
Can't wait! Going back to when they were younger seems like a smart move. I hope they can still somehow fit Hilde in.
