You may finally be able to change your PlayStation Network username next year. The oft-requested feature, which has become a bit of running gag in recent years thanks to certain podcast segments, has been met mostly with silence from the platform holder. But at PSX 2017 overnight, PlayStation chief Shawn Layden admitted that it’s in the works.

“The elves at the North Pole have been working on it,” he joked, adding that the feature is “more complex than you think”. However, despite the complications he shared a glimmer of hope for fans: “I hope we'll see events occur that you won't have to ask me that question next PlayStation Experience.” Seems like the plan is to roll this out next year, then – all being well.
