2017 has been an incredible year for games, and with great games come great promotional videos and trailers. As is becoming an annual tradition, we've put together a list of what we think are the ten best visual and audio treats of the last 12 months.

Sit back, grab a drink, and relive the hype.

10. Mass Effect Andromeda - Launch Trailer

Mass Effect Andromeda may have flopped, but if only for moment, this launch trailer made us believe that the game would bring the series back with a bang. Unfortunately, that wasn't to be, but still, this is one heck of a good video, complete with a fitting song and some great cinematic cuts.

9. Horizon: Zero Dawn - Launch Trailer

Horizon: Zero Dawn melds the primitive with the futuristic incredibly well, and that's mirrored in the game's launch trailer. Featuring some echoing drum beats and some gorgeous visuals, the video hits a sweet balance with in-engine footage.

8. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - Launch Trailer

Naughty Dog never gets trailers wrong, so we were expecting a hype-building cracker for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy's launch -- and we got one. This is one of those videos that really sets the themes of the game up ahead of its release. It's got intrigue, action, and everything in between.

7. Tekken 7 - Noctis Reveal Trailer

No one could have predicted Noctis in Tekken 7, so when this trailer was first shown at the Tekken World Tour finals, many onlookers lost their minds. Whether the Final Fantasy prince looks out of place or not, this is crazy video, and one of the year's most memorable.

6. Monster Hunter: World - PSX 2017 Trailer

Monster Hunter: World's PSX 2017 trailer ended up being something of a surprise addition to this list, but we can't deny that it's got everything you'd want from rock solid piece of promotional media. Sweeping shots, stints of gameplay, and a look at the game's overarching story. The music's superb, too.

5. The Last of Us: Part II - PGW 2017 Trailer

Bloody hell, this was one heavy look at The Last of Us: Part II. The trailer didn't sit well with everyone -- we're not sure it was supposed to anyway -- but as a statement of intent from Naughty Dog, it certainly got the job done. Horribly tense and brutal, it's still fresh in our minds.

4. Destiny 2 - Teaser Trailer

As far as brief teaser trailers go, they don't get much better than Destiny 2's. A CG short featuring everyone's favourite smart-ass robot, this was Bungie's first real attempt to get people's attention, and it definitely did that. With this video alone, hype for the sci-fi sequel went through the roof.

3. Street Fighter V - Cinematic Opening/Season 3 Trailer

Speaking of hype, videos don't get much more hype than this. Technically the new cinematic opening of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Capcom used this clip to reveal Season 3's new characters, all of whom are featured here. The music, the visuals, the colours -- everything about this is just brilliant.

2. Assassin's Creed Origins - Cinematic Trailer

Ubisoft is no stranger to incredible cinematic trailers, and Assassin's Creed Origins received one of the best we've seen in a long time. Taking on a seriously dark tone, this got us eager to explore Egypt and bloody our hidden blade. This is a three-minute epic that sets the title up perfectly.

1. Death Stranding - TGA 2017 Trailer

What else could it be? This eight-minute masterpiece is the best Death Stranding trailer yet. It's utterly mental, but as with just about everything Hideo Kojima puts out, there's a twisted genius to it all. From the symbolism and striking visuals to the wide-eyed throat baby, this has got to be the best trailer of 2017.
