Destiny 2 is getting a free trial according to this new trailer. Starting tomorrow -- that's the 28th November -- you'll be able to download and try the game out at no cost. What's more, you'll have the option of carrying any progress that you make over to the full release, if you decide to purchase it.
Bungie's yet to give an official explanation on how this trial's going to work, but we assume it'll have a time limit like most of the other free trials available on PlayStation 4. The video promises both campaign and multiplayer offerings.
Free trials are obviously a good way of getting more people to try your game, so naturally, there's a lot of chatter going around that Bungie must be desperate to reel in some new blood. Nonsense or not, the shooter currently has a negative air surrounding it thanks to recent community findings and the notion that the title's first expansion, Curse of Osiris, doesn't look all that great.

it could be like the first one where you had unlimited time but you could only do a few missions and get to a certain level

You know how the game was lying to players about how much xp players were getting? Then they panicked and switched it off as everyone realised the Devs were trying to exploit them. Well now it takes double amount the xp it did before to level up. You're not playing the game, it's playing you.
I won't buy it, but I'll try it out anyway.
Are we talking a 40+GB download? Still downloading The Show 17 and Evil Within 2.
@LieutenantFatman That's not strictly true as far as I'm aware. It's because the exp scaling didn't just scale down — it scaled up, too. So without it, bigger, less frequent activities are actually levelling players up slower than before because exp is no longer scaling up.
The reverse is true of smaller, more frequent exp gains being more rewarding because they're no longer scaled down.
@ShogunRok I see, thanks for the clarification. Personally I wouldn't be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt though. Like in so many recent triple a games from big publishers, the system appears to be built around selling extras via microtransactions as a first priority.
I'm really not sure how this will work. On one hand, it's the mechanics which are the biggest asset that Destiny has, but in the other.... the endgame is where you spend 99% of your time. Is it worth giving someone who's never played access to a 305 WARLOCK and throwing them into crucible? I'd say I currently spend my time 25% crucible, 25% nightfall and 50% raiding, all of which would be difficult to do right in a trial.
Nice, I want to try the new single player story mode, if it's good and there's good discount on psn maybe I'll buy it.
@LieutenantFatman Oh don't get me wrong, the whole thing still stinks, but misinformation that gets passed around (that's not a jab at you or anyone else — it's just how things happen on the internet) doesn't help anyone. Still, Bungie better keep things tight from now — Destiny 2's getting hammered at the moment, and for good reason.
I really wish i could get into destiny, tried the first one and it seemed fun, but I've got where i dislike mmo's. Maybe it's my age, i dunno.
