Assassin's Creed Origins' first event is live on PlayStation 4. This initial Trial of the Gods tasks you with taking down Anubis in a big old boss fight. In this quick guide, we're going to tell you where to find the Anubis boss fight, how to beat him, and what kind of rewards you can expect.

How do you access the Anubis boss fight?

As long as you copy of Assassin's Creed Origins is up to date, the game should tell you about the Anubis event as soon as you boot it up and hit the main menu. Anubis will stick around until the 14th November -- that's when another event will become active instead.

When you load your save, the quest should pop up and be added to the quest page of your character screen.

What level should you be to fight Anubis?

The game has the Anubis quest pegged at level 40, so it's a high level challenge. You'll want to be at least level 35 to stand a proper chance, otherwise you probably won't be able to do enough damage.

Where is the Anubis boss fight on the map?

Your quest marker will take you to a region known as the Great Sand Sea. It's the most Eastern region of Egypt, and it's right next to the starting region of Siwa. You can find the Anubis boss fight near the very north of the region, just out in the middle of the desert.

How do you beat Anubis?

Anubis is unlike any other enemy in the game. He's huge in size, but don't worry -- you don't have to fight him directly. Instead, Anubis will try to take you down with a bunch of different ranged attacks.

To damage Anubis, you need to shoot him in his chest with a bow and arrow. Although Anubis is a long distance away, Warrior Bows are actually quite effective. You can regain arrows by collecting the loot bags that appear around the area.

Anubis' primary form of attack sees him send out waves of flaming hyenas. These hyenas travel in a straight line towards you, and if they hit you, you'll take damage and be staggered very slightly. As the boss fight goes on, Anubis will throw more hyenas at you.

The best way to dodge them is to wait until they jump. As soon as they're about to lunge forward and bite, dodge either to the left or right and you should get out of the way. Just be careful that you don't dodge too much, or you'll leave yourself open for the next hyena wave.

Anubis will also try to hit you with a big wave of dark... sand stuff. This is easy enough to dodge -- just get out of the way as soon as you see it coming. Make sure you don't move back into it, though, as it'll stay there for a little while as you continue to fight.

On top of all that, Anubis likes to summon undead warriors and walls of bone. You should try to smash through the bone walls as soon as possible, because they're designed to trap you in a small area, which makes you an easier target. The undead warriors aren't too much trouble -- they're just your basic guard enemy.

What do you get for beating Anubis?

According to Ubisoft, there's a whole set of exclusive gear up for grabs which you can only obtain by defeating Anubis. However, you only get one piece of equipment for beating him this week. To get the rest, you'll need to wait until he reappears as part of a future quest.

As far as we're aware, the quest rewards are randomised. When we beat Anubis, we got a legendary regular sword called the Conductor of Souls, which dropped at our level (38).
