And here it is, the official announcement of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. As the Amazon leak suggested earlier today, the reworked package will feature an Arcade Mode as well as a bunch of other improvements and additions. It also includes all of the Season 1 and Season 2 characters. Arcade Edition launches on the 16th January, 2018 for $39.99.
The good news is that all of this new stuff (excluding the DLC characters) will be free to those of you who already own the game -- all you'll have to do is download an update and you'll be sorted. Hurrah!
As previously rumoured, the Arcade Mode will be presented in a number of different formats based on past Street Fighter titles. It'll be accompanied by a gallery and a complete user interface overhaul. Additionally, every character in the game will be augmented with a second V-Trigger, which is a huge change.
You can catch your first glimpse of Arcade Edition in the reveal trailer that we've embedded above. Will you be reforging your fists early next year? Don't mess up your inputs in the comments section below.

They should also discount the season passes and dlc content that will not be included in the Arcade version for older buyers.
Should've been call Street Fighter V Waifu Edition instead.
@belmont Season Passes have been on sale multiple times.
@Ryno They have but he's right: putting them on sale to coincide with this big update should bring people back (and make them a bit of cash).
Maybe, come January 16th you all will stop nagging about the story mode SF5 already has 😂
Love the new color scheme of the menu and it seems like arcade has multiple branches based on different eras...not to keen on the new UI.
p.s. wow that 60 fps CGI looks GOOD.
@BLP_Software they said you would just need one disc for SFV for the whole generation and you get this as a free update with your old disc, so it seems to me no promise was broken.
@BLP_Software So what? Circumstances change in businesses.
Does it include the DLC stages as well?
Fantastic price, nice job Capcom! (Don't say that very often.)
Think I might double dip just to get the season 2 fighters and use my FM for the stages.
I swear I saw Chun li performing Kikoken in a screenshot on Eventhubs. Characters are also getting new stuff! (but some of them already got new moves in the season 2,5 update).
@adf86 that is a smart move, just wait cause we don't know if those stages could be included as well. I might also say that with how cheaply you can buy SFV, somebody could find it cheaper to get the original disc + season passes if they get discounted...
Yeah finally woo hoo.
Likely the Season 3 leaks being old characters will be true then. Woo hoo etc
Awesome news, I still enjoyed Street Fighter V without the arcade mode when first released but you can't go wrong with more modes. Looking forward to this.
@Feena My thinking is the only season two character I have is Akuma and of course the fighters cost the most FM.
In some way if you think about this in a different way you can say this should have been in the game in the 1st place but Capcom already got slammed for this (poor sales).

@Feena That looks really nice, glad to see they're giving Bengus some time off too
Lets be fair you pay € 60 for a game and get then less the people who pay €40. The most important stuff they leave out the characters nasty move Capcom. From now on i only get remasters and gold editions when its from Capcom.

@Cassetticons yes! I think he will be in charge of the story mode art as in previous seasons and Udon comics has been hired for the arcade mode endings.
So only 2 years after release Street Fighter V gets the mode the game should have been built around in the first place. Better late then never I suppose
I will definitely jump back in. I actually really like this one but I don’t play much multiplayer.
Meh. Arcade Mode should have been there since the start so I dont feel good about this. Confirms Ono as a liar since this could be considered another iteration.
@sinalefa with all the bad press this game has been getting I honestly don't mind another iteration. And it's a free update for those who already have it. I'm looking forward to this.
Should have been the state of Streetfighter V from the beginning.
@shonenjump86
At least I will be able to play it now. And Capcom knows a simple Arcade Mode should be free or the outrage would have been worse. As an early adopter I would have liked a bit more from them: some FM, a free character, Season Pass discount or getting this content before it goes retail.
@sinalefa Why, you have had the game up to 2 whole years before those who would buy the "Arcade Edition." Do you also want free stuff from other companies that produce complete editions? I'm not crying because I would have to pay for the DLC for Nioh while others can just buy the upcoming Complete Edition and get everything included.
You have had a lot of opportunities over the past two years to earn extra FM from Capcom.
@Ryno
I am not talking about DLC. I am talking about the most basic mode in any fighting game, that somehow took 2 years to implement. If Capcom had told us before release that they would be skipping Arcade Mode for 2 years then I would have avoided it.
I dont want free things but I paid full price so I expect my games not to be barebones. I am not buying more games from Capcom at launch.
Who are the Season 1 and Season 2 characters?
@WanderingBullet Alex, Guile, Balrog, Juri, Ibuki and Urien for season 1
Akuma, Kolin, Ed, Abigail, Menat and (most probably) Zeku for season 2
@Feena Thank you. Looks like I'll have to re-install SFV again next year to tryout these characters.
@WanderingBullet the new modes and interface will be a free update for who already has the game but these 12 characters won't become unlocked if you didn't get them (they are present in the new retail version though kinda like a goty edition). Looks like there are a lot of opportunities to make fight money though so maybe you can try to get those you'd like to try I'd glady help you out with the trials etc if you need a hand, we can use shareplay.
@1eyedlink for me Street fighter V had more story elements in it from the very start than every other street fighter game before it. Tho the fights that went with it where dreadfully easy to complete. What it was missing was the arcade story. Jump in with one charecter for several rounds, a few particularly hard fights and a ridiculous final boss fight. That's all people really wanted.
@Feena Oh, I thought they'd be unlocked.:/ Oh well, maybe I'll take you up on your offer if I do happen re-install it. Thanks.
@WanderingBullet Sure, whenever you want
Right decision to hold back purchase. haha
