Good news for all of you Sword Art Online fans out there who are sick of being plonked into series protagonist Kirito's shoes: Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet won't make you play as the Black Swordsman. According to information coming out of Tokyo Game Show 2017, as reported by IGN, the third-person shooter is all about your custom character. Kirito still features in the story, but this time around, it looks like he's merely a party member.

Character customisation is nothing new for Sword Art Online games, but with titles such as Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization, you're forced into Kirito's lead role even if you've created your own hero. Sometimes, characters even refer to you as Kirito during dialogue. It's all a bit dumb.

Fortunately, Fatal Bullet, which is due to launch next year, seems to be taking a step in the right direction. Have a look at the gameplay that we've embedded above and let us know what kind of hero you'll be making in the comments section below.
