We'll keep this updated as we add more stories to the site.
So nothing worth getting up early for?
Well if nothing else, PS4's early 2018 lineup got kicked up a notch.
I get the feeling the whole industry is trying to shorten the announcement to release time of games at the moment. The delays, cancellations and downgrades we've seen to products from all publishers has damaged the interest of us customers.
Luckily for Sony, Microsoft has very little on the horizon to blow them out of the water at this time as they've delayed/cancelled everything. Unfortunately for Sony they now have Nintendo aparently clicking on all cylinders having hidden their lack of games during the end of the Wii U and are now fully loaded with the Switch.
Okami and Shadow of the Collossus interest me, but lets be honest they're ports/remasters.
I'll be honest. What I did see of the conference hugely excited me. Yes there was little new to report on ; but Sony is clearly doubling down on building an unbeatable software lineup. Enjoyable conference.
What was with that flying dog thing with its bum hanging out though 😂 actually laughed out loud on the train when that came up on screen as I am a massive child
I thought it was good, too. As usual, people have ridiculous expectations and set themselves up for disappointment.
so still no REmake 2??
@ironcrow86 Not yet.
I agree with the main guy hosting it i.e there should be a PlayStation in every home
From what I saw, a solid showing. I would agree that I think publishers are avoiding publishing games years in advance as in the long run, this damages the games. The hype train is hard to maintain - I mean look at Monster Hunter. Announced at E3, launching within 7 months worldwide. The hype for that is far far more then if they had announced 2 years ago.
Good show by Sony, really good 2018 lineup emerging now.
It's pretty good, dragon crown ps4 pro, zoe 2 remake, monhun world seems to have proper single player story, sotc is amazing, and ff9 today is a great surprise.
Updated with more content.
Not a single thing that interests me here. I will have to wait for December then.
The last Nintendo Direct wasn't worth it for me either.
@sinalefa Maybe you just don't like video games?
I admit that TGS had very little that appealed to me prior to the Event and now, afterwards, I am able to say that, as expected, nothing here will be added to my my wanted list.
Before @get2sammyb says the same to me as to @sinalefa, I have 6 games pre-ordered due out in the next 2 months, and 1 pre-ordered game with no release date yet - I also expect to add a few more to my pre-ordered list in the future with the games I already know will be coming. Considering I don't work in the industry and get new games for free (for reviews etc), I can't buy 'every' game I want - let alone the majority that get released - whether they have moderate appeal or not. As a result, I buy the games first and foremost that are the highest in my wanted list and have to let some games sit on the shelf for inevitable price drops or lulls in the release schedule.
To me that doesn't say that I don't like video games - it says that, at most, I don't like a specific area within the market but still have more than enough options to exceed my 'gaming' budget of titles that are of great interest.
I expect the PSX though will be much more interesting from my perspective and I can still see 2018 being a 'busy' year for me where gaming is concerned without adding 'niche' titles that I have little/no interest in.
@get2sammyb
Oh I knew it. The Lost Legacy I am playing is not a videogame. Must be an interactive movie
No, Sammy. It means that some shows are underwhelming or don't appeal to every taste. It also means that thankfully I can spend time playing the great games I own (Nier, Horizon, P5) and haven't touched.
Again, like @BAMozzy and like I wrote in my first comment, I am hoping December's conference will be more interesting.
I really liked it. Shadow of the Colossus was my pick of the bunch but also really happy to see a new Virtual On announced (despite the silly anime crossover gimmick), really love that series. 13 Sentinels looks great, as does Monster Hunter World...and the FFIX release was the icing on the cake, even though we knew it was coming. Wasn't expecting any megaton announcements but I admit I was holding out a bit of hope for FromSoftware. Ah well, maybe PS Experience?
Updated. I think that's everything now.
@MrGawain switch loaded with what??
@get2sammyb To be fair with all the games we got in 2017 indies all the time blockbuster titles I had enough for this year. My wishlist triggers 44 entries and I spend already more than enough. My next shopping list include prey mass effect knack 2 and hopefully I get a discount on some indies black guard 2 and shadow tactics look very decent. I must say this was a very good year best in years.
@get2sammyb "Maybe you just don't like Japanese video games?"
Fixed that for ya. ;-
Seems like a really good show for that market. If they don't have a Vita 2 lined up for that handheld obsessed/crazed country - which maybe they don't need w/ MH on PS4 - then they really do need to keep PS4 as alive and viable as possible.
I'm agreeing w/ the others though, nothing on that list really interests me. I'm currently waiting on FF7R, which will release after I'm dead no doubt, Ni No Kuni 2, Kingdom Hearts 3, DQ11, God of War whatever we're calling it, Last of Us 2, and Spiderman.
So yes I still like gaming, but not one of those is on that list. Seriously not 1 of the 7 games I'm waiting on is that list. That's probably like 500 hours of gameplay.
Also, just pre-ordered a Switch for Mario and XC2 this holiday, also not on the list. And I'll probably play Mario + Rabbids when they finish the DLC season pass next year. And I'll play Sonic Forces b/c for $40 my kid will buy it. Oh and Fire Emblem Warriors in 2 years after they finish that DLC which they haven't announced yet. So that's 5 more games not on the List. Unlike @sinalefa though they were in the ND, that list I liked.
Not to say it's a bad list, FF9 was good enough, ZoE was short but I enjoyed both games. SotC was enjoyable. But I've played them all already, no double dipping for me.
I would like Detroit, but I just can't get into those point and click games Quantic makes. Let the guys who made Binary Domain make it, make it a game. I'll wait for the movie staring Ewan McGregor, Jude Law and Ellen Page.
@rjejr
Nope you didnt fix anything. 90% of the games I play are Japanese.
Congrats on the Switch. Odyssey is possibly my most anticipated game but I want to see other things, hence the Direct not cutting it for me. Same with this show. Somehow that equals not liking (Japanese)games at all.
@sinalefa Boy, and I thought I had a very narrow playset seeing as how I don't play any sports games or FPS. Which is probably why my Xbox doesn't get a whole lot of gaming use - great streaming device though. It was worth the purchase for Sunset Overdrive though and Ori, Rare Replay I should have left in the past where it belongs. Gears of War Remastered was ok, still wanting to play 2 3, and 4 before I trade it in. Guess I should get working on those.
If it was up to me I would have waited on Switch until next year when it has more games to play, but my boys are looking forward to Mario and XC2 as well, and I like getting something big for all of us for Christmas. Next year I'm thinking PSVR if I can get it for $199 on Black Friday. But that's still 14 months away yet.
@rjejr
Funny thing is Switch will have me buying Fifa if reviews are good. I also want a racing game, choosing between PC 2 and GTS.
@sinalefa Well EA would have to try really hard to mess things up worse than 2K did w/ NBA. I think what's there will turn out well. We're not even slightly interested, but a new Strikers game would have our attention. Or Sluggers. We like fun sports games like MK and SSB, nothing too serious.
I'm down for whatever left alive ends up being. Hopefully we learn more at psx. I'm almost 100% on monster hunter world after that story trailer too! Earth defends force iron rain looks super slick too
No Bloodborne 2
In all seriousness, like last year nothing here really excites me, and after an uneventful Sony E3 that's sad. Hopefully another company can announce something exciting (Catherine 2 please?) or Sony have stuff in store for Paris Games Week and PSX.
Not sure if it was from the event but there was a new trailer for 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim released yesterday as well.
Well I personally thought it was a great conference. Lots to look forward too which really add depth and variety to the PS4 catalogue, you just don't see those quirky or gameplay driven games coming out from other regions.
On top of the fantastic titles from other regions, these Japanese titles add something different and in my opinion, are very exciting. Nino Kuni 2, Dragons Crown, Gundam, Earth Defense Force and Monster Hunter all look like terrific fun to me for starters.
Damn forgot all about this yesterday! Good news on MH release...
