Assassin’s Creed Origins promises to teach you about the history of Ancient Egypt with a free update due out in 2018. The bonus content – named Discovery Tour – will allow you to free-roam the title’s entire map without combat or obstruction, enabling you to take “guided tours curated by historians and Egyptologists, each with a focus on a different aspect of Ptolemaic Egypt, such as the Great Pyramids, mummification, or the life of Cleopatra”.
Here’s what creative director Jean Guesdon had to say about the added mode: “From the beginning, the Assassin’s Creed franchise has always explored pivotal moments in history, from the Third Crusade to the Italian Renaissance, and this year Ancient Egypt. It’s a dream come true for us to offer an educational mode built specifically for people to learn more about the incredible history of Ancient Egypt through the interactive experience made possible via a video game.”
It’s a bit of a shame that this won’t have any PlayStation VR functionality, but it’s still a really neat concept all the same.

This is actually a really nice idea. Egyptian history/culture is really interesting.
ACII had a lovely database, but this is better.
WTF this is actually pretty cool
I used to love reading about Ancient Egypt in books as a kid. Great to see I can learn more without having to pick up a book now haha
Great idea. To be honest, I wasn't blown away by the game at EGX but the world and attention to detail was pretty amazing and this sort of DLC is a nice addition to that.
Great idea! I'd love to wander around virtual Egypt and learn.
All in for this!
I hope they do something similar for God of War, as it looks like they are going deep into Norse mythology. I loves me a bit of mythology
Great Update, this will be amazing when I can get around to it in a few years.
