What better way to sell Star Wars Battlefront 2 than have John Boyega talk you through it all? The star’s stopped by at EA Games headquarters to do a bit of voiceover outlining all of the modes, features, and improvements that you’ll find in the forthcoming sequel. We found this pretty informative actually: it outlines the maps, class system, playlists, and even showcases a little more single player content.
We’re quietly excited for this one. The first Battlefront wasn’t exactly the deepest multiplayer shooter ever, but it was quite casual and easy-going, which is something we appreciate from time to time. We don’t expect the campaign to be particularly great, but with a constantly updating multiplayer suite, we’re looking forward to becoming one with the Force again.

they are saying the right things but i'm still dubious, i think i'll wait until after release and i have seen a few reviews before i buy it
got burnt on the last one so i'm not going to drop £50-£60 again for a Battlefront game until i KNOW what it has in it and what it plays like
It has a single player mode, this alone makes me more interested.
Can't stand multiplayer.
Not in the least because multiplayer mods are basically living on borrowed time.
@KitsuneNight Are they?
Not a FPS fan or online multiplayer fan but if I was I'd be super excited. It certainly looks great and seems to have a lot to do. Even split screen couch multiplayer which seems to be becoming something of a rarity these days. And there's that movie coming out to help w/ the marketing.
Not sure what the long time FPS online multplayer gamers will think of it but I can see this bringing a lot of new players to the genre. Maybe even getting some new PS+ subscribers as well.
And who knows, maybe if they keep most, if not all, of the DLC free it will even earn EA some good will. nah
This and Mario Odyssey are my only day one games for the rest of the year. I bought the first one very cheap and spent more time than I ever thought playing splitscreen co op with my bro and that returns. That campaign is interesting too.
I am interested in all the new locations. It's a pity that some of them are single player only (probably release later as all map dlc is free). Just a pity there are not going to be more modes
@get2sammyb
They are.
The moment the servers will go down and they WILL, the much vaunted multiplayer modes are deadweight taking up space on the discs.
I got stacks of original Xbox games whose xbox live modes are now quite useless.
Not too mention online only games, whose servers went down.
I'd rather be able to play a game when I want to. Not to be on borrowed time and at the whim of the publisher.
EA just loves to pull plugs.
This was the perfect video to get me hyped for the game and remembering how close the movie is
Can't wait for both
I have the first on both XB1 and PS4 - both with 'access' to all the DLC thanks to a recent offer of giving us the Season Pass for free.
That being said, I wasn't overly keen on the first for a number of reasons. Obviously, as mentioned above, the main issue was how 'casual' it was and how shallow it was too. Visually stunning but ruined by 'power-ups'. The power-ups also ruined the 'game-play' as a lot would focus on getting to the 'hero' power-up and camping for it if they missed out instead of focusing on objectives or killing enemies (unless they had to to keep camping). The lack of content, as well as that very 'shallow' experience lead to this dying quickly for me. It shipped with only 4 'big' maps and whilst they did give us a 5th soon after release, I felt it got 'repetitive' too. I know the game had more maps - a couple of 'small maps' from each of the big maps for the 'small' game modes but overall, I felt the game was made more for 'Star Wars' fans than for FPS fans. A game to introduce FPS (even though you could also play in 3rd person) to an audience with no/limited online experience.
SW:BF2 though looks to have addressed a lot of the issues I had. The lack of 'power-ups' on the battlefield, something that was so say designed to give 'everyone' a chance to become the 'Hero' - although it ended up being the same few because they just camped it out until the power-up spawned, also improves the aesthetics. The 'squad' and 'class' variety looks to introduce more of a team ethic - even if Solo it pays to stay close to your squad and rewards you in playing the objective too - helping you, and your squad, get more points to be able to become the 'Hero' - thus giving more people the chance too. It may still lack the depth of BF4 for example but in going this route, they have at least brought more depth to the MP and hopefully more team-work and more people playing the objective.
I don't quite know what to expect from the Campaign. DICE haven't had a great track record in my opinion of late although I do believe that they are not responsible for this section. The premise though is intriguing and it is canon too.
Going back to the MP, I like the multi-stage modes - having an attacking side and a defending side. Adds more to the MP than just running around and see which team reaches the max kill limit (or has the most kills after a preset time limit) first. I am also glad to see that 'space battles' are back - something missing in the first - at least if you didn't buy the DLC, and glad to see these multi-stage modes in Space too. I hope we have one map that mixes both Space combat and on foot too - like having to battle your way to a Star Destroyer (or defend it), then breach and battle your way on foot to the command centre to set it on self Destruct or alternatively, try to battle on foot to reach the hangars, and then defend some 'troop ships' in vehicles as they try to flee with 'civilians' on board for example.
Anyway, I have my Elite Trooper version pre-ordered and looking forward to this much more than Novembers other big Shooter
..I thoroughly enjoyed the first, lightweight, fun and instantly accessible... now that they've dropped all VR support for this, I'll be getting it day one on XB1X... this looks to be even betterererer! (and no splitting up of the player base like last time with DLC) win/win!
If they had more VR modes this would be day one because... well I just loved sitting the cockpit of an x-wing. So sue me...
For some reason Amazon doesn't have physical editions for this game.
Lol. Battlefront is the only shooting game I have on my PS4 and it was solely because it was Star Wars.
I don't know. I had a lot of fun with BF1. Getting to watch Force Awakens (saw it 3 times) and then going home to play BF was an incredible experience, even if I wasn't very good at it.
I might be a little hesitant to buy it day 1 because there's a lot of other games I want to get, but I'm really excited about the campaign and Iden Versio looks like she's going to carry on Disney's trend of creating BA women.
If I do get it day 1 it will be because of Iden Versio and her story (I mostly play games for story so I was a little bummed out BF1 was only multiplayer).
This looks ace! Actually can't wait for this one! Only problem is apparently there's going to be no Obi wan, Anakin or Grevious at launch which seems pretty stupid as Anakin and Obi wan are pretty much the main characters!!? Shame I'll be in my army training when this is out so I'll have to pick this up as soon as I get some time off, atleast there might have been a decent update by then!
@Th3solution it was a closely fought battle between this and Red Dead Redemption 2...
