IGN's gone live with around 17 minutes of Code Vein gameplay, and the game's showing promise. Described early on as "anime Dark Souls" you can certainly see where that trail of thought comes into the equation, but there's still a unique sense of style on display here.
That said, we're not huge fans of the dull environment that's featured in this particular video, but it's worth reiterating that the game's still in development. Last we heard, it's still due to launch at some point next year.

Im keeping my eye on this game.
For a min there, I thought there was gonna be co-op.
Aside from the guy sounding like an auction announcer taking bids, the game looks great! Looks like some solid combat, is the companion ai only? Or is there a multiplayer opti9n? Would be nice as I'm not too keen on relying on computer players.
What I'm moree interested is the character creator. From what I have seen, it seems to be taking notes from Freedom Wars' than God Eater's since you can even edit your facial hair.
Cautiously optimistic.
I'm a huge soulsborne fan, but have to say this, at the moment, isn't doing much for me.
'Souls like action RPG'
Meh..
It's probably good, but I feel like most "Souls-like" games are a little too Souls-like. They all start to blend together, at least for me. I feel like companies should deviate away from the standard of running through a gritty and sometimes bland-looking world and killing stuff and start adding more things to it, like a great story or puzzles, or any gameplay mechanic that isn't about fighting. Well-crafted combat systems in games are great, but sometimes when an entire sub-genre is focused on combat and basically nothing else, it gets pretty boring and same-y, especially when said combat system barely changes at all from game to game.
It's a early build so obviously things change and he said enemies have been placed there for that demo. Both Bloodborne & Dark Souls worlds are dark but it has it's own beauty to them, something this is lacking at the moment but hopeful we will see I hope.
It mimics Soul-Borne so much it's almost a turn off. Time will tell.
Love Souls, like anime, but I'm not feeling this.
I guess NiOh, Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 is enough to last me a generation.
Looks alright could turn out to be a nice surprise.
Literally Anime version of Souls/Borne games even the movement is almost exactly the same but you know what they say Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Looks awesome. Souls gameplay is just the best — can never have too much. Encouraging to see, now that no more true Souls games are being made.
Im excited for it. It looks like an interesting variation of souls inspired games.
I play and enjoy even the most mediocre of souls-likes. This looks great though! As far as souls-like gameplay goes I'm a huge fan and it never really gets old to me. Can't wait!
