The official announcement of Yakuza: Kiwami 2 comes as no surprise seeing as the game's existence was leaked yesterday, but at least now we've got a badass reveal trailer. The big story here is that the remake will use Yakuza 6's flashy new engine, which looks bloody lovely.

If memory serves us correctly, the original Yakuza 2 back on the PlayStation 2 was a real step above its predecessor, offering up a more twisting story and throwing a bunch of new characters into the mix. Apparently, this remake will also add in a new scenario that features Goro Majima as a playable character. Nice.

Yakuza: Kiwami 2 will launch before the year is out in Japan, on the 7th December. Once Yakuza 6 is out over here in the West - or possibly just before - you can probably expect SEGA to announce that Kiwami 2 is being brought overseas as well.
