No Man's Sky Patch 1.3 Discovers New Story Content and Fast Travel Portals

I feel like this article should include a lot more negativity about how HG are still supporting this single player full price game a year after release like you guys always give to Squenix for continuing to support FFXV.

Awesome, really enjoyed the previous updates to NMS and it's been nice watching the community work through all the cryptic 'Waking Titan' stuff. Very intrigued to hear more details about what they're adding.

you know this is £10 on the PS Store right now, i wonder if it's worth it?

@rjejr you know it is kind of strange they hate on FFXV for being what they consider an incomplete game (and it wasn't, it was Noctis story and you saw it from his point of view so why would you play as the others in the main story?) because they keep updating and adding to it but not on other games like No Mans Sky

it does feel like they are just hating on FFXV because it's hip to do it right now

When they finally finish the game I will probably jump in and play this....it's just another example of how waiting for some games really pays off.

I enjoyed my time with NMS and as much as I think Elite Dangerous to be a far better game it'll be good to exit my ship and roam the planets on foot again. I still need that warp trophy for the plat, too.

@Kidfried Very easy I'd say. I just enjoyed playing the game and when I thought I'd mop up some trophies I'd already gotten most of them. There is one trophy, The Sentinel, which I had to grind out by leaving my PS4 on for many hours whilst sat in a shelter on a hazardous planet but I was trophy hunting by then.
The things you do for trophies eh?

It's worth mentioning that this was part of the email for the end of the Waking Titan ARG, not in any way patch notes denoting all changes.

That said, don't expect too much, just think of what happened at launch and take a moment to realize how amazing it is that this tiny team is still working on it and is trying to make their vision work.

I'll be hitting this after 1.3 not too much because of Destiny 2 and holidays in between but I'm looking forward to see how it changed from last year - bought the limited edition, played it for a week or so and was disheartened by the bad reactions to it let it affect my own enjoyment of it, promised myself I'd wait a year to see if they tried to make it work at least.

@FullbringIchigo @rjejr I'd say it's easy to hate on FFXV rather than hip. It's absolutely one of those games that I enjoyed playing and reviewing, and I think it's good, but the more I look back on it, the more its flaws become horribly apparent.

I haven't cared at all for its post-launch content, either. Is it good that Square Enix continues to support the game? Of course, especially for those still playing it. Does that mean we can't share our opinion that we think the support is generally a bit rubbish? Not at all.

@get2sammyb i didn't replay the story because you don't need to as they are on their on separate section from the main menu

as for NMS yeah i can see that point, it is kind of Minecraft like isn't it but the point still stands, why is it bad for Square to do it with FFXV but OK for games like The Witcher 3, GTA, Skyrim etc?

@ShogunRok just because something is easy it doesn't mean you have to do it maybe the support hasn't been as good as it could be but at least they are supporting it and trying to fix mistakes and not every developer bothers to do that

@FullbringIchigo I'm not saying we do it because it's easy, I'm saying we're just not fans of what FFXV has been pumping out. It all comes down to context.

@get2sammyb 1-I certainly didn't replay FFXV and won't be doing it for years.
2-I liked chapter 13 as it was.
3-FFXV has ridiculous dlc - looking at you stupid power ranger time limited armor or something

@ShogunRok now that i understand, i'm not saying that all the stuff they offered has been good (although i REALLY enjoyed Episode Prompto) but i am happy they are still trying to support it and fix it where many other developers would just say **** it and walk away and they should be commended for admitting they messed some things up and are trying to fix them

I was playing it on and off while watching some show so I totally left it on at one point hahaha, I don't seem to be able to get into it, but if you're on today I'll join you after dinner? I'm very low level though. but I found a pretty good starting out guide on reddit, hopefully things will make a little bit more sense!

@FullbringIchigo Yeah, I think that's fair. Although some of the things Square Enix has added have been questionable, there's definitely something to be said for a dev that continues to support a release — something that should be praised. I think that's something we can all agree on.

Not many games add as much free content after the release as No Man's Sky has. Sure it was missing some content but I feel like they have redeemed themselves quite a bit with all the added features

A friend has promised to lend me No Man's Sky next time I see them so this is excellent news for me. At this rate I might not have to send that threatening letter to Hello Games that I've been carefully crafting for twelve months.

There's a story?

This game looks like fun (and waaaaay better than when it launched). I would give this a try but I have so many other games I need to beat right now it's not even funny. (T_T )

And since FF XV keeps being brought up, yeah, I think it's just like No Man's Sky. They both released games that weren't finished yet, hoping that the gaming community wouldn't notice. I think the difference why casual gamers like FF XV more is that at least FF XV were open about their troubled development and didn't promise the sky, so to speak (hehe, I'm so witty).
While everyone heard about No Man's Sky's broken promise from their No Man's Sky-hating friend.

@get2sammyb But both games were $60 when they released, so to me that makes them even. And I did go back and play "the rest of" chapter 13, and Prompto and Gladiolus story, and when the Regalia got off-road mode. I didn't go back for the Power Ranger suits b/c they went from being PR suits to just being black armor, so I'm waiting for episode Ignis.

Maybe NMS will keep on going like Minecraft, but that seems a bit of a stretch. Which sold better on PS4, NMS, FFXV or MC?

@ShogunRok Will NMS ever be looked back upon as better than FFXV? FFXV has faded from memory while XCX looks better and better in hindsight. NMS is just hoping to always be the poster child for over promising indies. Better than being the poster child for failed kuckstaer games, that would be Mighty #9, but I think NMS legacy is sealed and they'd be better off making a new game.

@Neolit Indeed! NMS has changed quite a bit from release. I might check out 1.3 after my vacation.

@kyleforrester87 I used to roll Warframe a lot, so I might be able to help, though I haven't played in some time. My PSN is same: starhops if you want to add me. I've been playing Fortnite with friends, which is pretty fun.

I actually enjoyed NMS a lot, even at vanilla stage. I didn't get it for multiplayer or any of the other features people thought it would have...I got it for the exploration aspect, the notion of happening upon something no one else - including the developers - have never seen.

The game has given me more than a handful of wow-moments. For example: being trapped in a desert surrounded by predators at night miles away from my ship was quite an experience.

I'd love to see the game evolve in the survival/disaster direction more than the Elite Dangerous/Star Citizen direction though. Possibility of something going wrong on your ship so you have to crash land on a planet and then find parts and materials to fix it, etc.

I got this game with my PS4 and played it for a couple of hours and moved on. I kinda liked it but it seemed too... empty?

Haven't touched it since so I might be in for a treat.
