BioMutant has been causing a bit of a stir over the last few days. The weird looking open world role-playing game made its debut at Gamescom 2017 - the German convention that's still ongoing - and now IGN's nabbed 11 whole minutes of gameplay. You can give it a watch above.
Obviously this isn't PlayStation 4 footage, but that doesn't really matter at this point. The title's definitely got a spark of originality to it, and we're surprised to learn that you can customise the main character. Combat looks quick and snappy, and the actual open world looks quite lush. In other words, we like what we see.

Only thing I'm not keen on is the narrator.
That looks pretty dang good. POW! Im sold.
That narrator is just awful.
I think this is looking pretty good. Agree with above posts, I don't like the narrator. I do like the comic book elements, though.
Seems pretty cool so far.
@ApostateMage @get2sammyb @ShogunRok
When if first started I thought they were going for a LBP4-Spore combo. I like the narrator's voice, but it really doesn't fit this type of game, whatever type that is.
The fur choices are straight of the "EyePet" games on PS3. Which I know nobody on this website has played so you'll just have to trust me on that.
First minutes feel very "Rare" if you've played Kameo or Starfox Adventures, which again, probably not many people here have, but I've thoroughly enjoyed both of those games, so that works for me.
The name sucks. Really really sucks. I almost avoided all news on this game b/c of the title, thought it was like Biohazard or Fallout 4, FPS dark dreary adn all that. This game looks like it was mad ein Project Spark on the Xbox, which is the opposite of "Biomutant". They could have made Krystal - from SFA - the main character and called it "Krystal's Adventure".
I'm looking forward to it. Makes up for Scalebound being canceled.
I am very much sold at this point. Could be the next big surprise...
Still looks a little rough to me but they can and will probably fix it! The characters look really fun...I'm just worried about the gameplay
this game looks good.it will be legendary
Am i crazy or does it look completely linear? I watched most if the video. Did i just miss an actual openworld part?
@Gmork___ Open world is highly overrated. Open linear or Metroidvania is best imo. Rise of the Tomb Rraider, Souls games, etc.
I dig it not blown away but does look fun
@doctommaso If you want to tell a good story then linear/open is way better than real open world
really hoping this turns out great. there is a version of this 11 min with commentary from one of the main devs, its deffs worth a listen if your interested. i really feeling how if you make your charater small he will be quick but with less health and if you make him big he'll be slower but more health, hopefully there are more cool systems like this. very intrigued
@AFCC Probably true, but I'm not even that into story; I just like the gameplay better — it's tighter, more focused.
Looks intriguing, except:
1. That narrator doesn't fit this game's style at all. Too cutsey. Very jarring.
2. The enemies so far seem very similar, but this is a limited slice.
3. I did not like that it stopped at crossroads and asked for player input to decide which way to go. The point of 3D games is that we make those decisions by just running down that side of the fork. Maybe there's something going on I can't see yet, but I would be annoyed any time it did that seemingly without reason.
Looks like it plays smooth and the graphics are nice. I don't care if it's open world or not. I would try it before I bought it at this point, but there's time for them to change my mind before launch.
There's a real clash of styles going on in this game and it doesn't always seem to work, IMO. Could be good but still very much on the fence, personally.
This video just made me not want it. Looks like my wallet will be saving sone cash
Definitely an Alpha build - at least I hope it is!! Looks quite Japanese too me... Not sure if its a game I would buy - at least not after seeing this video. I can see the 'humour' - like the walking 'hand' (very Addams Family) and it looks 'bright and colourful enough but I would rather the 'characters' spoke rather than 'gibber' with the Narrator. I guess its cheaper than having a big cast of voice actors - especially if you want to offer different language support. Its much cheaper to have a 'variety' of people play the Narrator in various languages.
Its obviously a way off from releasing. As it stands now, I doubt I will be pre-ordering. Between now and release, things may change and the game may move up (or down) in my various lists of games I need (will pre-order!), want (may pre-order depending on time of release or buy relatively close to release), moderately interested in (will probably buy at the right price and time - maybe), will wait and watch how it progresses (not overly bothered about but still has time to prove itself worthy of my time in any of the above capacities - these also tend to be the IGC/GwG games I bother to add) or 'not interested regardless (speaks for itself - wouldn't even download if free). At the moment its sat in my 'wait and see' list...
You guys wash your mouth out with soap - the narrator is Stephen Fry - a national treasure over here.
