Love it or hate it, Destiny 2 is going to make Activision a whole lot of money. The sci-fi sequel was a talking point during the publisher's latest earnings call, where the company was keen to big up Bungie's shooter. According to Activision, the recent beta attracted more players than the original Destiny's, which hooked over 4.6 million people back in the day. It's safe to say the sequel's test was very popular indeed.
Things get more interesting when it comes to pre-orders, though. Destiny 2 seems, er, destined to eclipse its predecessor's already impressive success, as Activision claims that pre-orders for the follow-up are now ahead of the original's. Yeah, it's going to be a hit.
Are you looking forward to reading about nothing but Destiny 2 when it launches next month? Try to keep things fresh in the comments section below.

I eventually get it with a big price drop. Too many other games this holiday season to worry about.
I'll wait for Destiny 2: The Collection.
Next up: rain is wet!
I still keep seeing new players on the tower from time to time, so really it shouldn't be a surprise that pre orders for the second game are ahead of the first game, PS4 and xBone back then were still quite expensive, the game drought was real and many players didn't transition until later, so players on the fence to buy a new system would not have bought the game for the legacy systems when they could wait and then get it for the latest console.
And this is coming from someone that was active throughout the game history from launch till recently, the amount of times I picked people up from LFG sites that were doing raids for the first time, was actually a constant factor, just two weeks ago I took a clan member through Crota for the first time for example and I know for a fact that everyone in there has pre-ordered.
Pre-ordered the moment it went live on the store. The first game was the best pound/hour I've ever spent so even if I do half of the 2300 hours of the first game it was a bargain at £90
I pre-ordered the Limited Edition - eventually!! I did though struggle to find one for pre-ordering as everywhere had Sold out - that included both PS4 and XB1 versions as well as the much more expensive edition on both platforms too. The fact that all the special editions were sold out everywhere, indicated this was popular. Luckily, either because Amazon had more stock allocated or someone cancelled their pre-order (after the recent beta), I managed to finally get a pre-order in.
I've pre-ordered the digital bundle with the two expansions. I'm still enjoying the original. Only wish I managed to have a go at the final two raids.
All these sales is from Gamestop when they announced they would be selling exclusive Destiny 2 Fidget Spinners with pre-orders.
That's the reason I'm sticking with.
@Xaessya they really doing that? Ahahaha, amazing!
I pre-ordered the Limited, but I am still hoping some more Collectors Editions will be made available. The CE went live when I was at work so I didn't stand a chance of getting one. As a Letter Carrier for the USPS, I can totally appreciate the handiness of a satchel. Plus it's a universal tough guy symbol....Jack Bauer, Jason Bourne, and Macguyver all used one lol
I'm waiting for the review. Preorder bonus in destiny has been consistently atrocious.
@shogunrok does this include pc? Could that make the difference here rather than popularity?
@Mega-Gazz That's a good point, and I assume it does include PC. Still, more players is more players, I suppose. It'll be interesting to see how well it does on PC.
