SNK has announced that Samurai Shodown V Special is heading to both PlayStation 4 and Vita at some point this summer. Initially released in Japanese arcades in 2004, Samurai Shodown V is widely regarded as one of the best entries in the series.
The fighter will be reappearing on Sony's current-gen console and handheld in its original form, complete with its surprisingly gore-ridden kill animations. It'll also come with online multiplayer and Trophy support, as you'd expect.
Will you be sharpening your blade for this one? Please don't cut each other in half in the comments section below.

Awesome, but I still like 2 and 4 better.
4 >> 2 >>>>>> 5 >> 1 >>>>>> 3 >>>> that 3d one.
Maybe the "Special" treatment make the fifth entry better.
I may pick this up if they support Legacy Sticks. I have the Wii Collection but my stick is not compatible.
Id pick this up at right price
kinda unrelated, but what ever happened with the Windjammers release?
Sure, I'll get it for the vita at the right price
I remember trying this out in the SS Anthology Collection and thought it was a right down mess with how many characters it had.
Yes Yes Yes !! Just glad for every SNK fighter they bring back - but why not 6 or the whole Antology ? I just bought 6 and I'm greatly disappointed that it's just a PS2 Port with no full screen adjust! Shame !!
Can't remember 5 , only SamSho that sticked to me was 6 since it had the most Chars to chose from ^^ but 6 didn't have any blood or finishers so I'm rly lookin forward to 5 Comin to PS4 - with trophies and graphic options/full screen option - well and an online mode lol
By the way - if anyone is interested - Last Blade 2 and Garou Mark of the Wolves for PS4 are extremely well made ports of two of the best fighting games of all time - go get them asap as they r in Sale Atm! Brought to current console with love and care it blows me away how well they both hold up even compared to modern 2D fighting games. And well .. nostalgia and SNK Fanboy bonus lol
Oh SNK pls bring the other SamShos too and also - most importantly - Art of Fighting 3 haha
Have hamster stopped releasing arcade archive games now? There seems to be nothing but neo geo games coming from them these days. I was hoping for a ps4 Bombjack.
@dok5555555 Still in beta, which started last month. You can sign up to get in here: https://www.flyingpowerdisc.com/
@Dan_ozzzy189 You mean this Bomb Jack? That was put on the PSN in 2015? https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/arcade-archives-bomb-jack/cid=UP0571-CUSA00975_00-HAMPRDC000000001
I mean, I don't know if its in other regions, but there's no region lock on the PS4 so might as well poke around whichever PSN you want and take advantage of that, y'know? The ACA releases across regions - and across systems - are annoyingly inconsistent. Freakin' Switch owners get Waku Waku 7 and we don't? grumble grumble
Yes! Japan only unfortunately.
Thank you SNK! Now all would have re-released in the series digitally
with the exception of the original Samurai Showdown V.
