Japan PlayStation Vita 1

Good news, weeaboos: visual novels are alive and well on the PlayStation Vita – and the PlayStation 4 continues to be the unofficial home of Japanese games on consoles. People in their mid-to-late 20s donned their pink wigs and Dragon Ball Z tees and headed to Anime Expo 2017 this weekend, where they learned about all of the otome releases heading overseas.

There’s so much crap here that we’re going to cover it in bullet-point form:

  • The PS4 port of popular visual novel sequel Zero Time Dilemma will hit North American shores on 17th August.
  • School Girl Zombie Hunter will launch in North America in late 2017 for the PS4. As the title suggests, the third-person action game will see you assume the role of a school girl zombie hunter.
  • Aksys Games is bringing Arc System Works’ outrageously named Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] to the PS4 in North America later this year.
  • Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time is coming to the PS4 in early 2018, courtesy of Bandai Namco. It’s billed as an action RPG beat-‘em-up based on the anime of the same name.
  • So-called ‘Anime Souls’ title Code Vein got some new gameplay at the show. You can watch that through here if you’re so inclined.
  • Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, the “acrobatic ninja battle action” title that Ramsey will probably want to review, is coming to the PS4 in early 2018.
  • Gundam Versus, another game that Ramsey will want to review, is launching in North America on 29th September.
  • Anime adaptation The Seven Deadly Sins: Knights of Britannia will deploy as a PS4 exclusive in early 2018. It’s the first video game version of the popular series. [Or not, as pointed out in the comments - Ed]
  • Vita-based action game Drive Girls – in which ladies transform into supercars – will race to North America from 11th August.
  • Otome visual novel Bad Apple Wars will bite the Vita from 29th September, via Aksys Games.
  • The annoyingly stylised Code: Realize ~Bouquet of Rainbows~ will launch on the PS4 in 2018. It’s a collection featuring the duo of Code: Realize releases previously deployed on Vita.
  • Another otome visual novel named 7’scarlet is coming to the Vita in 2018 courtesy of Aksys Games.
  • And if that’s not enough otome visual novel for you, then you may be delighted to learn that Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly and Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk are coming to the Vita in 2018. We’re not making any of these games up by the way.

That’s a lot of games. Do any of these take your fancy at all? We’re poking fun at some of them, but it’s nice to see Japanese games continue to release in their droves on the PS4 and Vita.
