Since it was revealed at Sony's E3 2017 press conference, there's been speculation over whether Monster Hunter: World is a full-blown Monster Hunter title, or whether it's some sort of weird spin-off project. Fortunately, the former appears to be true; World is a proper creature-crushing release, as evidenced by Capcom's latest livestream.
We've embedded an archive of the stream above, which contains around 25 minutes of PlayStation 4 gameplay. Skip to 46:30 to see the title in action. As far as we're concerned, it looks like a genuine evolution of the series' tried and tested formula.

Love a bit of Monster Hunter, can't wait till next year.
Give me now...
Expected as much, since this was developed by the team behind MH4.
I hope we get a wider diversity of levels, though. Everything we've seen has been foresty so far. I want levels like in previous games, too: deserts, volcanoes, tundras, etc.
Looks interesting, I tried monster hunter 3ds demo a couple of month ago but I don't like it, this game looks way more polished than the 3ds one though, so if it has a good single player story, I'm in.
Looks like the best MH ever..
@Ralizah somebody at the conference asked if the forest area was the only one and the developers answered that it is just one of many.
The Monster Hunter series isn't that important to me. This game looks visually impressive though but isn't helped by the fact I don't speak Japanese to convince me its a 'day 1' purchase.
Its something I am more likely to play than 'Detroit' for example but will wait to see/hear more before deciding one way or another - Its on my 'Maybe' list currently. Q1 (the target release window) seems like it could be busy and after an 'expensive' Q4 2017, I may have to be selective in the new year.
As its a 1 player game (a good thing), IF I do decide to buy, the big decision will be what platform to buy it on...
@Feena Sounds good.
Hahaha at 48 min. In 📹 ... That was awesome
@KingofSaiyanZ This statement keeps going through my head every day since the N. Sane Trilogy was announced way back in December.
Anyways, judging by the video, the game looks really good. On a side note, it's funny how Nintendo fans are blaming Sony for this game not coming to the Switch here in the west.
MASSIVELY hyped for this one.
Anjanath vs Great Jagras and then Rathalos vs Anjanath, those two fights were awesome. Why can't 2018 come any sooner.
@Deadlyblack
Especially since it was also announced for Xbone. That'll show'em! >_>
For the record, I have no interest in Monster Hunter on any platform.
Don't know if I'll buy or wait for the Gold Edition on Switch.
@Frank90 If this was coming to the Switch, it would've been released alongside the other versions.
Visuals look stunning! Can't wait to get!
@Ralizah Nope. Because it'll be something like Gold. Just like the orginal and the second with the gold version for PSP.
idk looks boring...
I'm hyped. It's got the classic Monster Hunter gameplay with the different zones, weapons and items. Yet, it's also something new and different to previous games.
Other than Sony's exclusives , I'm so hyped for this game . Back when MH Tri came out on the Wii I put in 700 hours. Good times 👌🏽
One of the greatest experiences in gaming was to become a very skilled player in Monster Hunter 3. I can't wait to get a similar experience with worlds. The world and monsters look absolutely stunning. I'm planning to start a hunter association when the release is near.
@EVIL-C Exactly. Everyone seems to blame Sony for everything.
In the video its shows 4 "boxes" were they separate screens showing a 4 player co-op hunt?
@teknium_ Yeah, you can play the game with 3 other players. You can gather your friends or other players in a hub prior to a quest or just summon for help during a fight using a flare. What I want to know is if the flare works in a cave or do we have to use it out in the open. lol
Probably a stupid question but does anyone know if co-op multiplayer has been confirmed for this game yet? Thanks.
Some tweaks makes it look considerably easier. Dude slammed back two potions instantly, you could hide in bushes for easy stealth, and a green trail follows the monster for tracking. Mounting the monster also looked easier, with no stress bar to control between stabs and holding on.
Glad MH is finally going multi-plat, but this seems like a more westernized version. Hopefully portable MH games aren't done with, I just prefer to play on-the-go.
@LieutenantFatman I don't know Japanese, but it looked like they were playing with three other people. It looks great!
@Constable_What thanks! I've not had a chance to watch this latest video.
@LieutenantFatman No problem!
