BioWare went ahead with a full gameplay demo of ANTHEM at Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference, and it looks pretty cool. There's a definite Destiny vibe here, with the science fiction and the shooting and the co-op and the loot, but again, it looks promising. You can check out the footage above.
What do you make of ANTHEM? Suit up in the comments section below.

The gameplay looks good, but I am still a bit confused by it. Is this going to be like Destiny? Will it be fully playable as a single player game? Hopefully it is not an online only experience, otherwise I'll skip it.
I almost thought this was a trailer for a Ubisoft game at first. Does anyone really like those bull**** cringey "gameplay" videos where actors pretend to play the game? I am completely disinterested in this now.
Also is this the project that was condemned Dylan? As in the Bob Dylan of video games? Because this looks like Third Person Destiny... This looks like the Monkees of video games to me.
Well if they sacrificed Mass Effect to make this I will at least give the game the benefit of the doubt hope to play it eventually.
I thought it looked good and the frostbite engine really showed through... Certainly on my wanted list
Going by what was shown I think it's safe to assume EA pumped way more resources into this than Andromeda.
The resemblance to destiny is striking- especially since it's EA. I'm wondering if they literally realize destiny is not fixable and they're trying again with a company that does better stories.
@Cheski polygon said it is an as-a-service online game, not unlike ........destiny.
@ShogunRok Maybe they had more time to work on actual gameplay for this one since they didn't have to check off all the boxes for diversity, sensitivity, and romance
I love to see the kind of tracing paper that Bioware used when they Destiny because good lord.
@ShogunRok - The A team worked on ANTHEM and the B team worked on Andromeda.
I thought ANTHEM looked really good but it sucks that my favorite series was killed off in favor of it.
@Mega-Gazz that's a bit unfortunate. I will keep my eye on it though, because the gameplay looks fun. Online multiplayer just isn't that appealing to me these days. With my limited gaming time, I just get more out of single player games.
@Splat Montreal worked on Andromeda while I think Edmonton is on this? Still, resources need to be allocated, even if it is separate studios.
Its a mistake, Andromeda, Destiny 2, Star Wars BF2, Anthem, Cyberpunk etc etc, no, it looks great but Dragon Age made more sense or a Star Wars Bioware game.
I just dont understand how they can make Andromeda and Anthem at the same time, 2 sci fi adventure games, just seems stupid.
This looked so freaking good. Almost too good.
Never been a fan of the ME series but this looks pretty amazing.
Looks gre8 but why can't it be single player daaayuuum.
@NinjaWaddleDee right? when he dove into the water from the jetback and kept going my jaw dropped a little
Looks like a mix of Destiny, TitanFall and Horizon Zero Dawn. Not necessarily a bad thing, but still.
Haven't played any of them, so this might be my collected experience of them all (joke).
It certainly looks amazing with the glitz and glamour that the Frostbite engine is capable of but at its core it looks like just another online co-op shooter.
the world/environments look great, certainly more detailed than destiny, but the gameplay looks a bit meh to me.. looks it could have been lifted straight from a mass-effect survival mode.
@ShogunRok According to Patrick Söderlund, this game has been in development for 4yrs now. Considering the news we heard about the development of Mass Effect and how long it took for most of that game to be built, this sounds as though it actually started before ME:A and still around a year off.
Interestingly enough, he also stated that he hopes this will be the start of a 10yr journey - sound familiar? LOL Wasn't that what we heard about Destiny.
Another 'interesting' parallel is that the 'outside' world is in 3rd Person but in the Hub area, its first person - the opposite to Bungies game...
