God of War director Corey Barlog has sat down with Geoff Keighly to talk about the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive, and as a result, we've got some juicy new details. To start with, Barlog confirms that the game isn't open world, despite some speculation from fans.
However, he does say that there's a "heavier emphasis on exploration", meaning that players can take Kratos off the beaten path during some parts of his journey. "What I really wanted to bring out in this game is this concept of being on a tour bus and being able to pull the string and get off whenever you want and have a look around," Barlog explains. "We really wanted to make Kratos and his son feel like they had to make their way through this very violent, very large world," he adds.
It's sounding like a grand old adventure isn't it? Grab your axe and set sail in the comments section below.

This sounds amazing to be honest. Can't wait to see what little secrets are hidden away.
Barlog sounds like the name of a monster Kratos would fight in this game.
Sounds great to me, open world is always a bit of a slog, generally I prefer this structure. I'm really looking forward to it after seeing today's gameplay.
I used to think I really liked open world games until I played some and realized I didn't. What I always disliked about God of War was fixed camera, Knack has a fixed camera 'nuff said, so I'm extremly glad that's gone.
Uncharted 4 was a very small world that did a very good job of making feel like it was open, relying on flowers, rocks, walls and bushes to set up a natural perimeter. So I'm expecting more of that here, a linear game in a natural setting that gives the impression of open world.
On the flip side FFXV was just the opposite. It was such a huge open world but it felt like Noctis would be stopped by a shadow or small pebble.
I'm ready for any Viking world that gives me camera control.
Still interested and this sits quite high up on my 'Maybe' list - mostly because I don't really enjoy the previous entries but what I have seen so far does look a bit of departure and evolution.
