In perhaps the least surprising reveal of E3 so far, Ubisoft has finally confirmed that yes, the new Assassin's Creed game is set in Egypt, and yes, it is called Assassin's Creed Origins. The big reveal occurred at Microsoft's E3 press conference today, and included a neat gameplay video showing off eagles, crocodiles, and slibeable pyramids.
The footage in question is running on the newly unveiled Xbox One X console, so its unclear how it'll stack up graphically on Sony's systems. Either way, have a look at the clip, and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Looks amazing, might just be the first day one AC for me!
It does look very pretty. It looks a lot more of an rpg than previous games.
Looked impressive enough... I am sure the Pro will still look 'good' and the PS4 will obviously look better than the XB1 version.
@BAMozzy Will you now be playing this and other 3rd party games on the Xbox One X now it's the most powerful console or has the price put you off? I reckon it will be £450 for us in the U.K.
Don't usually buy Assassin's Creed games but think I'm going to make this one an exception, in fact I think I'll be getting more games that I normally wouldn't buy, once I get the XB1 X, after what E3 has shown us so far.
@MaccaMUFC The price is a lot for just multi-platform games. The only 'new' exclusive that actually benefits from 4k is Forza as the other 2-3 use cel shading, low polygon count, low texture artstyles - hardly surprising when the XB1s is SO weak!!!.
I find it funny that people are considering that instead of the Scorpio...er... XBX!!! Just because of price!! I can't deny though that games like this, SWBF2, Anthem, Destiny, CoD, RDR2, etc in 4k with 4k textures etc will look impressive - just have to see if the games can run as well as they look or may hold out for a price drop or PS5...
See Ubisoft! See what happens when you take a step back, take a breather and tackle a game!
Looks stunning, especially the gameplay video. Very excited to play this.
@BAMozzy I can't see PS5 releasing anytime soon, not when the PS4 Pro has not long been out and by the time the PS5 does get released all those games like SWBF2, Anthem etc. will be old news.
I'm definitely getting an XBX, I've got the same 4K HDR TV as you and would really benefit from the true 4K it will output. It's about time I actually get to use the TVs true potential once I get the XBX, on my XB1 S I never used the 4K Blu-Ray player and only used HDR on Netflix and certain games. It was a pointless upgrade really but this time it's different.
@MaccaMUFC I already have a Pro though and all the games I want to play are on PS4. Ok so games like SWBF2, Anthem etc may look better on XBX but £450 better?? The price of 10-11 games?
If MS had some Exclusives I wanted, it would be an easier decision but as all the exclusives are 'Meh' - Forza looked good visually but is 'Forza' which is not that different from 6 or 5 or 4 or 3 or... just prettier and I got bored of Motorsport. Besides Project Cars 2 could fulfil that if I wanted. If a game like RDR2 offered a 60fps dynamic 4k mode where Pro can only offer a 1080/60 mode, its more appealing but its not like I can't play the XB1 exclusives and really only Forza looks to benefit. Games like Crackdown looked ok but its cel shaded artstyle isn't going to benefit significantly by 4k and I can play it on my XB1s without having to spend £450.
For just a 4k capable XB1, £450 is ridiculous. £100 more than a Pro that does something similar - albeit not as well. I can still see Sony bringing out a PS5 sooner than people expect - it's not built for 4k gaming and the PS4 is 4yrs old. Sony also have a lot of games that could benefit from 4k with 4k assets and no doubt will add a 4k HDR Bluray player to complete the system.
That's how I feel after MS's briefing but I could change my mind between now and launch - Gamescom for example is still to come and we may here about other benefits, other game modes (like 60fps modes in 30fps games) better, more responsive dash etc etc.
I admit it would be good to have my Elite controller on a 4k gaming console...
Wow! I'm a fan of AC, but this has the potential to be not only the best AC, but one of the best games Ubisoft's ever made. This year off was put to good use, apparently.
@get2sammyB Any chance Push Square is gonna play it on PS4 during E3?
Looks great! Glad to finally see gameplay after all the crazy leaking lol. I've been on board since the initial leak setting in Egypt, and I'm glad it lives up to it.
Day one.
Am I the only one who thought that looked boring as hell? I was really excited that they had took a break and were going to take their time with this one but come on! The parkour is just copied and pasted from previous games. The eagle was just watch dogs 2 drone, the combat looked the only slightly intriguing thing about it but I bet that gets dull as dishwater after awhile. Very disappointed wasted such an interesting time period. Obviously I don't know story details or anything but purely from that gameplay video I've been put off.
Edit: The other "action" trailer looked a lot better but having watched the gameplay before hand still not convinced.
Nice to see they've spruced up the combat.
