The next LEGO block buster is… LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2. Try to act surprised, won’t you? The toy-themed title’s due out on 17th November on the PlayStation 4, and there's a teaser trailer featuring Baby Groot and Doctor Strange embedded above. There’ll be a full reveal on 23rd May, so consider this announcement of announcement territory for now.
It’s worth pointing out that this is a follow-up to the positively received 2013 launch title LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, and not last year’s LEGO Marvel’s Avengers – are you keeping up? – which sported a smaller cast and wasn’t as gleefully received by critics. According to the press release, there’ll be branching storylines in the all-new campaign, while LEGO Dimensions’ four-player battling will also feature.

There's too many of these LEGO games.
X-Men?
@get2sammyb "There's too many of these LEGO games."
Actually, if you look at the release schedule over the past 5 or 6 years, going back to 2011, this game is overdue as there's been a slowdown of late. Not counting Lego Dimensions as that's a different toys-to-life game, nor Lego Worlds as thats' just Minecraft w/ Legos. But they had 3 games in 2011, 2 each in 2012 & 2013, another 3 in 2014, and then things slowed down w/ 1 in 2015 and 2 in 2016. But none since June 2016 w/ SW:TFA. So it will be 16 months between Lego games. That probably hasn't happened since they started rolling these games out in 2005.

So it's more over-due than the next CoD, Madden or FIFA.

I expect it to be more like the smaller 4 player battle arenas in Disney Infinity's Marvel Battlegrounds playset than the larger areas in Lego D. Neither of which really impressed me, I tried them both, but the size and feel was different.
We'll probably end up getting this one on Switch if it releases before Christmas and has 2 player w/ only 2 Joycon, unlike Minecraft's 2 Joycon per player.
Can't wait!!! The first Lego Marvel is one of the best Lego games ever made!!!
YES, the original is the best Lego game to date so i can't wait for this.
@rjejr Only two LEGO games in 2016?! However will we cope?
The first one was my favorite Lego game, it was actually great fun getting the plat trophy! I'm waiting this one to be even better
@get2sammyb.
At least it's a November release so you can be to busy to review it. I know that's the reason I'd give.
Can't wait. However much I may have enjoyed the Avengers title I really don't like it when they rip voices from movies for these games. Marvel Superheroes was awesome because it had an original story and its own writing.
Cool, i always wanted the first game but i never got around to buying it. For sure, let's see how this turns out.
@get2sammyb But it was EARLY and MID 2016, not LATE 2016. November 2017 is practically Half life 3 territory for them.
@rjejr I was actually thinking this weekend I was surprised there wasn't Lego game coming out and wondered what it would be.
@vegeta11 Yes, that's how people who actually play these games think about these games, When's the next one? Thanks.
@rjejr You are right about the delay,I was actually starting to wonder if they were going to give us another proper Lego game.I thought they were just going to concentrate on Lego Dimensions.
Mind you I can't complain,I've only just got round to starting Lego TFA last night
Very excited for this although I'd still rather have a full Lego Simpson's or Ghostbusters etc. But hey,any Lego is no bad thing..
@get2sammyb Clearly we more lego games than in the past.
@JoeBlogs LCU kind of did cross my mind, but it's a port of a 4 year old game, so that's hardly a "new" game.
@Wazeddie22 "a full Lego Simpson's or Ghostbusters etc.
I've been wanting a Lego Dreamworks Dragons for about 3 or 4 years now. My family really likes the movies and the show, and the last game, Dragons 2 or whatever it was called, was a big heaping steaming pile. I rented it free for a day from Redbox and that was still too much.
That series has such great characters and story, not sure they could do 100 playable characters but 25 is certainly doable. They've done Lord of the Rings and Hobbit, Dragons seems like such a nice idea. Still crossing my fingers for when the 3rd movie comes out in March 2019. And if not Lego at least a game like Cars 3 is getting, that's looks ok-ish.
@rjejr Oh do you mean those How To Train Your Dragon films?I only saw the first one and really enjoyed it!Damn, yeah a Lego game on that would be pretty cool!
But I don't know,as much as I absolutely love all Lego Games (I don't play dimensions) I think Lego is flooding us with superhero games rather than doing something new each time.I always try and platinum each game but how often do I have to keep finding the same characters..
@Wazeddie22 Yes, How to Train Your Dragon. The TV show has had a few titles, on a few channels, so I get confused.
I'll agree w/ too many super hero games if that's what sammy was getting at. We had 3 Batman games and now 3 Marvel games. That does seem to be a bit much. My kids and I are always trying to come up w/ ideas for Lego games and there really aren't all that many successful series that fit the bill. Dragon Ball Z would be cool, blowing up blocks w/ the Kamehameha wave, but there are already a ton of DBZ games.
Super heroes are all the rage these days, can't fault them for going w/ what works. And there will almost certainly be more as the movies keep rolling along, both DC and Marvel. And Star Wars. They dotn' even have to try, just keep making games based on super hero movies for at least the next 3 years.
