Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands reclaimed its place at the top of the UK sales charts this week, as stock issues caused Persona 5 to fall from the summit to outside the Top 40 entirely, which is the first time we've ever seen that happen. Talk about front-loaded!
The top five was dominated by some evergreen favourites: LEGO Worlds, Grand Theft Auto V, Overwatch, and FIFA 17. Yooka-Laylee entered in sixth, which isn't a bad result for the Team17 published platformer considering we have to imagine most sales came via digital purchases – be they on the PlayStation Store or care of the original Kickstarter.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is now starting to lose its strangle on the top ten, but it still managed to sit around in 11th place, which isn't to be sniffed at. The only other new entry this week was Stardew Valley, which rooted down in 30th position.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 15th April, 2017

- LEGO Worlds
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Overwatch

Entering at number 1 and then dropping out of the top 40 entirely is ridiculous. Get it together Deep Silver, Atlus.
They apparently completely sold out the initial shipment
I'm actually surprised by how well Wildlands has done. Really like that game too.
@ShogunRok I can't get a copy until the 8th of May. I'm considering just dropping it on digital but I'm pretty reluctant to do that.
I've never seen this happen before.
That's crazy! What a blunder from Deep Silver. Just glad I got my copy in advance, no other game comes close at the moment!
I'm stil surprised GTA 5 is still in the top 10
That game is 4 years old by now !
Is it just the UK that has a stock shortage? I went into a gamestop for the first time in months (a customer tipped me with a gift card) and bought a copy, looked like they had a few more too.
@get2sammyb The only time I remember something similar happening was Bayonetta 2 which charted about 9th then dropped out of the top 40 but that more likely had to do with been a Wii U game.
It's frustrating because I couldn't get P5 at launch due to money issues now it's almost impossible to find at a reasonable price.
@RedMageLanakyn Might be mostly Europe, because I've heard similar issues in France.
Yep, it has been sold out everywhere I've looked in stores in the UK. With such amazing reviews, this really has been a breakout hit.
I'm so tired of seeing FIFA and Call of Duty games in the charts. They need to be banished to an isolated dark corner of hell.
They were showing off their ghost skills in their sales chart.
How daft. Sort it out Deep Silver/Atlus. Otherwise the window for further success is only going to shrink
@get2sammyb It's not just Europe, certain areas of the US have stock shortages as well. A friend of mine wants to purchase a copy, but the closest store that has a copy in stock is in San Francisco which is over 375 miles from central Arizona where we live...
Hasn't this happened with a few of the Japanese-developed releases this year? I remember both Nioh and Yakuza 0 having stock shortages due to them ending up more popular than the publishers expected. This seems to be the worst case so far though - I mean to go from #1 to vanishing out of the top 40 altogether is no mean feat. Really hope it gets sorted out soon though because this is a game that everyone with even a vague interest owes it to themselves to experience.
Stock shortage sound's like an excuse, I mean how many time's have we heard about "stock issue's" in the last year alone maybe 6 month's. I dunno if I believe them anymore, either that or they have the worst sale expectation advisor's in the world working solely in the game/console industry..
@xMEADx I just checked, and the game is sold out in all gaming stores in my country, apart from one, who's now charging €65 for it. In this case I think it's indeed stock issues, cause it's pretty easy to verify it.
I cant get enough of ghost recon wildlands, that game is freakin awesome. Dont know anything about persona but i dont do anime stuff
Wow! The demand for Persona 5 must have been crazy last week!
@xMEADx This is real. A game isn't number 1 one week and then completely vanish the next week unless the stock is completely exhausted.
The worst COD ever and people still buy it. I think people dont deserve better games. FIFA whats new. Grand Theft Auto V i still have to get it but i dont care about GTA.
@bbauer36 I found the beta so boring played it for 30 minutes. What did you find so special about it? Its just not for me i think.
@xMEADx Also, this is a record-breaking entry for the Persona series. It smashed all previous sales records and expectations.
@Mahe @Mahe @Octane it's crazy, someone somewhere who earn's a lot of money is having a terrible time of it then, they probably don't earn much money anymore now though thinking about it. So much stuff is down to simple stock shortage's these day's, these guy's suck. They made a geat game though, I forgive them. (kind off)
@xMEADx It's actually true. It really is sold out at a lot of places.
Amazing game. I think I'm nearing the end but I am loving it. One of my two favorite PS4 games. Hoping the momentum swings back upwards!
What is going on with Grand Theft Auto V?
I'm not even kidding. 😦
so surprised wild lands is selling -_-
Nothing regarding this weeks chart, but my local GAME have Parappa The Rapper Remaster displayed on their best sellers shelf (£11.99, take-to-till, digital voucher code inside).
I really hope it sells well. At least it's in plain sight and at an attractive price point. There are too many serious games these days. We need more fun.
Hoping SonyXDev have something for us at E3.
Guess Deep Silver never expect Persona to sell well..
I really want to try persona, but I've really got out of turned based rpg's. I've got more into action rpg's, guess maybe because we are flooded with them. Is the game really as good as people say? Can anyone compare it to another game, besides another persona game?
Folk try to find Persona should try Argos by luck my local one had a copy so I snapped it up quick.
Seriously the stock shortages should never happen, sort it out Deep Silver.
@ellsworth004 Pokemon is pretty similar in terms of combat system (and monster collecting). If you like visual novels absolutely give it a try, the story and the setting really carry you through the game even if you don't love the combat part (that is also very good but I guess it can feel a bit dated - expecially compared to rest of the game.)
@whywai88 They did expect it to sell well, it had enough copies to go number 1 after all. They just didn't expect it to sell this well.
