Uncharted The Lost Legacy PS4 PlayStation 4 Sony 1

Bloody hell, the standard of games websites gets worse, doesn't it? Over the weekend, an interview with Naughty Dog's Arne Meyer got picked up by dozens of bigger sites, all because reporters without reading comprehension assumed spin-off Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will be 10 hours or longer. Ironically, the director of communications has been completely misquoted by publications that should know better.

Here's what he told IBTimes:

Years ago, when we were asked if we were ever doing a single player expansion for Uncharted we always said, "Well, we don't have the self-discipline to do that." If we tried to do that we'd create a full game.

There's no way we could, sort of, constrict and restrain ourselves, and that's exactly what was happening here. When we were doing story pitches, we were coming up with a game that would be over ten hours long and so we suddenly realised everything we said was true and we couldn't keep it short.

So, what can we learn from this quote? Well, it's clear that Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is longer than an average piece of DLC, which is something the developer admitted when it revealed plans to evolve the content into a standalone project. So far, it's gone on record as saying that the side-story will be meatier than The Last of Us: Left Behind – but that's it.

At no point in this quote does Meyer say that the game will be ten hours in length, he just illustrates that the studio was dreaming up bigger ideas than your average add-on pack. For goodness sake games press, read the quotes you're sourcing before finding an excuse to shove auto-playing ads in fans' faces.
