So, it turns out that Episode Gladiolus, Final Fantasy XV's first 'real' slice of downloadable content, will only set you back $4.99 if you don't own the season pass. On the one hand, that's a pretty low price, but on the other, does this suggest that we shouldn't really be getting our hopes up for these character-based expansions? When DLC is this cheap, it usually means that it's either a small pack of goodies or it's very basic in scope. We're not saying that we were expecting a full-blown ten-hour adventure with our favourite burly bodyguard, but we were kind of hoping for more than, say, a series of battles that last an hour.
Of course, we'll have to wait and see how it all pans out when the DLC launches next month. The add-on's official description at least mentions when this Episode takes place, though, and without spoiling anything, those of you who have already finished the main game will be happy to know that it supposedly fills in some blanks.
What do you make of Episode Gladiolus' price tag? Drop some thoughts into the comments section below.

This is why I don't buy season passes before the content is out. I want to see how good it will be first.
hopefully the other pieces are bigger and more expensive then. Otherwise it's gonna turn out to be either a tiny saving by getting the SP or no saving at all
Based on how poor the expansions for ff13 were (releasing for a similar price), I am wary about this.
Im Gladio i didnt get the season pass.......
Hey that's pretty good.
This is going to be about 30 minutes long.
Going to be very similar in length to the Arkham Knight DLC.
Considering the gap this is meant to fill in the storyline, can't imagine it being too long. It was almost comical in FFXV with the big "reunion". Spotted it a mile off.
@Rob_230 ff13 had dlc?
It would make sense if this is not too long and the other adventures are mote flashed out since this is coming out first... I am happy to play some more btw
@get2sammyb When I first read the title I read it as "$4.99 WITH the season pass", milking it beyond reason, so I don't even care what it is after reading it correctly.
"without spoiling anything"
When that took place early in the game, chapter 5 or so, my first thought was - well know we know when the DLC story will take place. Still unsure about "Camping& Cooking w/ Ignis" and "Prompto's Pokemon Snap! Adventure" but Gladiolus was easy to spot. Personally I'm hoping Prompto is after game, parodying the new GoW gameplay where he teaches his and his wife Cindy's kid how to take nature photos.
Oh, the season pass certainly isn't looking like it was worth $25 right now, the carnival was free to everyone and went away after 3 weeks, and I received better weapons from my Amazon pre-order and weird mini-game thing then the DLC. I can't imagine it will ever be worth it, but what season pass not w/ Witcher 3 really ever is? FFXV has been on sale repeatedly for $30 and there has to be over 100 hours of gameplay in there just 1 time thru. 6 or 8 hours of DLC pass should be about $1.75.
@Feena my mistake it was dlc for 13-2. There were some naff bonus scenarios sold for about 3 pounds
I got the season pass. I'm really hoping that wasn't a mistake as it was one of the only ones I've ever purchased.
@Rob_230 ah yes I remember! The arena thing... Oh God I hope it's more substantial than that
@rjejr While I'd never advise buying a season pass without knowing what was in it, I can at least think of the Borderlands 2 season pass as one that was worthwhile as something other than The Witcher.
