The last time Final Fantasy XV got delayed, Square Enix claimed that it would be using the extra time to polish the experience to a degree where a day one patch wouldn't be necessary. Indeed, the developer even stated that the delay would allow it to incorporate an "extensive" day one update into the finished product, so that even those without an internet connection wouldn't be missing out.
Now the game's official Twitter account is saying that we'll get day one patch details on Monday. Sigh.
Okay, so going by the wording that the account uses, this doesn't sound like it'll be a game-fixing update or anything like that. Instead, the patch will apparently include "extra features" that the developer has been working on since the title went gold.
We're not really sure what to make of this. Depending on how large the update actually turns out to be, we can definitely see a bit of a backlash brewing - but at the end of the day, we just want to play the bloody game. To say that we're sick of writing about it would be an understatement at this point.

Well, patches were always going to be deployed anyway so if it's a day-one one or further down the line makes no difference. If anything, better sooner rather than later. PS4 Pro support as a priority, please (I know December but still).
The patch is 7 gigabytes playing the game unpatches say online features will not be available
well if it's adding extra content then it's fine by me
as @AlejandroMora says.. 7 gig. People in Peru have the game already and the patch is already up and live.
It is worth it for the patch news b/c it lead me to Conan and Frodo playing the game. Stay to the end, the last minute has me in tears still.

Still debating canceling my pre-order on Amazon that I've had since January. My wife reminded me again last night that I was planning on holding off until the "complete" edition probably next Christmas. Maybe when they announce the news Monday I'll decide. Better not be $9.99. ugh
Hopefully my copy gets delivered before my lunch break so I can go home and pop it in to update
Bit of a given, it isn't really no surprise.
@solocapers Via their store? Is English language an option, do you know?
NM, went and had a look.
Been waiting a lifetime for this...who cares about a day one patch?
Not surprised and won't be the last patch. It's apparently kind of open-world like, I am not surprised new things to fix are found every day. It also seems they are adding some kind of online feature....let's see on Monday what it is all about.
Ugh I just want to play the game... It would be really convenient if it showed up today, tomorrow or monday seeing as I have all next week off from work XD
Liars.
If this games pants I'm coming over to Squares offices and camping outside in a huge tarpaulin that appears from nowhere with 3 of my d£#%head mates to complain.
Square never claimed they wanted to eliminate a day one patch, they just wanted to include the changes that were in the current (at the time) day one patch in the retail release so people didnt have to download a huge patch just to play the game end to end. That being done they are able to work on non-critical updates for day one.
