Marvel vs Capcom 4 PS4 PlayStation 4 PSX 2016

The rumour mill has officially entered overdrive ahead of PlayStation Experience 2016 next week, with the net outcome presumably being that there are going to be a lot of people let down next weekend. Marvel vs. Capcom 4 is the latest title to hit the likes of N4G, with a NeoGAF poster suggesting that an announcement may be made as soon as next week. It'll be right next to The Last of Us 2, we suspect…

There's very little source here, so it's all hearsay yet again. Capcom did say recently that it wasn't working on Marvel vs. Capcom 4, but that may have just been to preserve the secret. We do know that Marvel is reinvesting in its game branch, and it's willing to work with first-parties like Sony to get high-profile releases like Insomniac's Spider-Man made? Could this be a three-way collaboration?

We know that Sony, as the principal sponsor of the Capcom Cup, is heavily entwined in the fighting game community these days, so an announcement at PSX 2016 – where Street Fighter V is also set to feature heavily – could make sense. It just seems so unlikely, though, doesn't it? We'll keep monitoring this rumour in the lead-up to the event, but don't get your hopes up yet.
