PlayStation Japan's been putting out some silly ads of late, but its new flagship commercial takes itself very seriously indeed. The clip centres on the slogan "We can do everything", and appears to show ordinary people in extraordinary scenarios. The message, we assume, is that PlayStation takes you to incredible places.
It's a concept that's well worn, but there are some serious production values on display here, so it's well worth a watch for that reason alone. You can almost feel the money pouring out of the screen.

Very nice commercial. Very family oriented. It screams out - "3DS is old news, Wii U is dead, NX won't be out until next year; buy a PS4 now and you and your family can enjoy all of these great games now." Even the "We" in that phrase says family, usually these ads use "You" or "I".
Well played and well done.
@rjejr I agree, its trying to send the message that Playstation can be enjoyed as a family, which is something that both Playstation and Xbox need to push more.
@thedevilsjester "Xbox need to push more"
I can only imagine an Xbox commercial in Japan. A bunch of execs on their knees begging maybe?
I like it, its very nice and also reminds me of the Tokyo 2020 ad which had the black backgrounds. Just curious but which game is that huge monster from?
@rjejr I was just talking about pushing the family angle, not necessarily in Japan, though the fanboy in me likes to see Sony trounce Microsoft.
@thedevilsjester " pushing the family angle"
Oh, I know, I really should have put a at the end of that comment, it really needed to be there, sorry.
I think MS is after the fan boys more than Sony and worry more abut "tainting their image" w/ family games. I think they pushed really hard w/ Kinect and that didn't get them anywhere, so NFL fans and FPS fans it is.
Sony has had a bunch of toys to life bundles. And Crash Bandicott in Skylanders will probably be advertised by them. I can't pictue MS pushing stuff like that. I could be wrong, but that's what I see, and don't see.
@rjejr I think that Sony has always tried to be a general gaming system for everyone (many different types of games across many genre's) where Microsoft has tried to focus only on the FPS/Sports gamer, while dipping their toes in other gaming types, but not really committing to them.
I think that with Nintendo's failure with the WiiU, and with the NX that I am fairly confident is going to be a failure as well (if for different reasons), family and "non FPS/Sports" gamers are going to be looking for a new home. This is a perfect opportunity for Sony and Microsoft to both get a bigger slice of the pie.
