Is Beyond Good & Evil 2 drawing closer? Michel Ancel has posted another piece of artwork on his Instagram account, showing what appears to be either Rufus or Francis β the anthropomorphic sharks who appeared in the original game. He captioned the image with the following message: "Ready for the fight. Independence Ubisoft day."
This is a reference to today's shareholder meeting, where Vivendi β who's been trying to assume control of the company for months now β is expected to push for a place on the publisher's board. It's something that Ubisoft management is desperately trying to fight, and it sounds like veteran employees such as Ancel have got the owners' backs.

I wonder if it's of a slightly different nature. I wonder if it's like Shenmue with Yu Suzuki, where Ubisoft is letting Ancel go independent with it and do it with his own team, possibly funded via Kickstarter.
I thought it meant Ancel leaving Ubi$oft. Will keep an eye on it anyway.
pipe dream
I think there is a meeting between Ubi and Vivendi today. If Vivendi wants control, it could mean that BG&E2 will be scrapped because it doesn't make any business sense.
Looks like Michel Ancel is fighting for the game's existence.
Give us Beyond Good & Evil 2!!
@Churchy Doubt it. Ancel is already semi-independent as he's been allowed to make WiLD for Sony. I think BG&E2 is happening... Assuming Ubi can stave off Vivendi, of course.
@get2sammyb My stance is more one of questioning if it's different to the current assumption. As you wrote, Ancel's status in the company is a little loose anyway (and I imagine that happened after the handling of Rayman Legends by Ubi). I agree that BG&E 2 is happening, but no one really knows what state it's in. The fact we've only seen art/concepts probably means it isn't that far, especially if there's worries about the Vivendi take over. It's more an alternative theory. Either way, I just hope the damn thing is released!
