Rio whee-o

The Olympics are now officially underway, which means it's time to learn about nations that you never knew existed and watch sports that would never get primetime coverage under normal circumstances. You either love it or you hate it, but there's no denying that there's something special about the globe getting together and uniting under the banner of respectful competition. God knows the world needs a positive event more than ever right now, eh?

I'll be exploring the oceanic mysteries of ABZU, as I work my way through Giant Squid's acclaimed aquatic adventure. I've also become addicted to International Track & Field after researching this week's article, so I'll probably fire that up between lulls in the Rio 2016 schedule.

Thankfully it's my last weekend of handheld-only gaming, and since I put Yo-Kai Watch to bed earlier this week, I've finally got around to playing Monster Hunter Generations. I'm only halfway through the two star quests, but it sure is more Monster Hunter – which isn't a bad thing at all. In fact, it's making me want to find a Monster Hunter-esque game to play on PS4, any suggestions?

It's all I Am Setsuna for me this weekend. Playing through this makes me wish Final Fantasy would return to its roots a little more; though I'm sure I'll find enjoyment in Final Fantasy XV come September, I Am Setsuna reminds me of the simple charm of dialogue and character driven narratives before complex battle systems and convoluted terminology became the norm. I can't wait to see what Tokyo RPG Factory come up with next!

I'll be playing Lucioball! Then maybe use that enthusiasm to try out Rocket League again and see if I'm still terrible...

Once again, I'll be diving into The Witcher 3 this weekend, desperately trying to finish it before the Official Game of All Time Grow Up comes out. I'm deadly serious.

This weekend all hell is going to break loose in the family kitchen as I'm rounding up friends and family to cook cooperatively in the excellent indie Overcooked. Hell's Kitchen better watch out!

During the week I finished my initial play through of Hyper Light Drifter, but I can't help but feel like there's a ton of things left to find. I'll be diving back in this weekend to see if I can uncover some more secrets and treasures. Speaking of treasures, I managed to pick up Ratchet & Clank for an absolute bargain. I can't wait to dive back into Insomniac's warm-hearted, vibrant series – it's been far too long.

So, after missing a week, I am back. Sadly, with the Olympics going on, there won't be much gaming for me. However, I am going to try to squeeze in some Shenmue, which I will be playing for the first time.
