Street Fighter V's finally getting some dedicated single player content tomorrow in the form of a free downloadable story mode, and judging from its official trailer, it actually looks pretty good. Sure, the writing's as cheesy as you'd expect and it seems suitably mental, but it's a well worked video all the same.
Having said that, we've been burned by story modes in fighting games before, so we're not getting our hopes up just yet. The cinematic experience will feature all of the brawler's characters - DLC combatants included - and it'll launch alongside the the title's big summer update on the 1st July. It's worth mentioning that you'll have to download the story mode separately from the PlayStation Store, though.
Will you be giving story mode a go? Do you have high hopes for it? Swear revenge against Bison in the comments section below.

Nope not getting it. The ship has sailed on this game for me, maybe if it was there in the beginning, but now I have too many games going on right now. Maybe when it hits the bargin bin I will pick it up, or it becomes free with PS+.
It can't be any worse then MKX's story mode. Rather their wasn't one after playing that.
As I mentioned in the SFV thread, the expansion is available to preload right now.
I'll definitely give story mode a shot. Looking forward to the new costumes. And I hope the better online matchmaking is in this update.
@shonenjump86 They said it will be.
@Tasuki - Same here. Capcom blew it.
@adf86
Cool, thanks
Yes plz. It's SF what trye of story are you expecting. Give me a SF II like solo game and I'm a happy camper. SFV online is amazing I'm engoying the new meta more like classic SF not insane super ultra Alfa with 99 hit combo. 8.5 out of 10
@adf86
To be honest I'm expecting SFV's story mode to be a bit shorter and less ambitious than MKX.......however, on a personal note, I find the art style and characters of Street Fighter to be much more interesting than Mortal Kombat.
I'll give it a try.
Finally! Wasn't liking those story board quality cut scenes.
absolutely hyped to get it along with the new chars and costumes ^^
cant wait for future updates - SF5 is evolving
@sub12 From what I heard, it'll one round only matches, which I don't mind because it allows us to play as every fighter while keeping the story going at a good pace. Just depends on how difficult certain parts of it will be.
Update is downloaded, but it will take like 16 hours for the story to download. Geez.
@Tasuki In the same boat as you for this one - would have been tempted if all this was included when the game first launched but kinda missed the boat now. Plus I've got Persona 4 Arena waiting to play thanks to PS Plus, which I hear has a fantastic story mode. Might get to SF5 eventually but just too many games to play at the moment.
This games condition is like being offered a car its got the engine and the wheels and it runs. Then later on you get seats and the body work fitted. It gets better over the months as you get more bits.I will hold off getting this game until they release a version thats more complete and I do not have to downalod about 20gb of patches when I open the box anf install the game.
I came in with low expectations too but I must say I am hooked! Just got to the part where you get to try out Juri and the presentation is very very nice. thumbs up from me!
My girl Ibuki is in so I'm ready to dive back in!
@dryrain have fun waiting on that. It's not happening.. Ono said that SFV is not going to have any "super" editions or anything. Plus all content is free so what's the point when everyone already has all of it?
@Bender I noticed on one stage a car had a number plate with SSFV on it, so who knows
Loving how Juri has turned out, think she'll be the last fighter coming though, Urien seems to have more moves.
This should have been the launch trailer. eh ehm
Anyways, I've done enough griping. Better late than never I say, and Balrog is a nice touch. We're getting there. Just slide in that vsCPU, story mode, extra characters and arcade mode, reprint the discs and call it the "complete game edition" and we'll have a real winner on our hands.
Played till Act. 4 last night and apart from some of the voice acting its pretty good so far.
It's a decent story mode, not up to MK standards, but it's still good......the one round super easy fights are still a bit lame.
@sub12 really? I prefer it vastly to MKX (booorinnng) or Doa story modes.
You know what would be nice? A simple story about a fighting tournament, with each character having its own relatable backstory. How about no needlessly dramatic world domination plot?
EIther way, not getting this game until we get a proper arcade mode. Can't wait for King of Fighters, though.
