We're sure that we've covered this in the past, but it's worth reiterating all the same following fresh comments from director Hajime Tabata. According to the Final Fantasy XV boss, who appeared on a recent Square Enix livestream, the game's main story will take you around 40-50 hours to complete, which, for the most part, puts it on equal terms with previous Final Fantasy titles.
However, as we already know, the role-playing release is far more open than its predecessors, meaning that there's going to be plenty of optional content to keep you busy when you're not pursuing the plot. According to Tabata, the "extra stuff" alone will last you a whopping 100 hours, and estimates that in total, you can expect there to be about 200 hours worth of gameplay packed into Noctis' adventure. Sounds like a pretty colossal undertaking, then.
Do these figures mean much to you? Are you bothered about length, or are you just hoping that the finished product turns out to be good? Unleash ten years of hype in the comments section below.

great i love big long JRPG's
Pretty much expected.
@FullbringIchigo Me too!
The longer the better.Dragon Quest 8:Journey of the Cursed King on the PS2 took me about 90 to complete and was one of my fave JRPGs of all time!As long as the story is good,the characters are interesting with good voice acting and the side quests are fun I'm all for it
XCX took 135 hours for the main story for me so this number feels pretty low, but for most games its high. I mean its nice but....what fills those hours? That's what matters.
Translate that into "my hours" and that will probably mean something like 120 hours. People say Dark Souls takes 30 - 40 hours. Me? More like 90. I like to enjoy my games.
Let us hope that it's quality content though. I am super hyped for this game but I am still super cautious
So long as I can get through it before Battlefield 1 comes out I'll be happy
Pretty sure I'll take longer than 40-50 as I like to look around and take my time. Hopefully a lot of the side content is worth doing as well...
@BLPs yes indeed especially after the filler fest that was XCX. I hope it doesn't follow its example...
@zimbogamer Exactly, excited AND concerned. But that final E3 Q&A with Tabata kind of put my doubts to rest, I feel like I can trust the man and he's doing his best to please everyone.
Is 99% of that driving?
