A somewhat modest week here at Push Square Towers, as rumours and teasers took the place of actual announcements. The big leak centred on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which appears poised to release on the PlayStation 4. As for actual news, the latest slate of PlayStation Plus goodies were announced – while we reviewed Alienation among others.
Reviews
Alienation - 8/10
To describe Alienation as a spiritual successor to Dead Nation is a misnomer – this is a far bigger, deeper game, pulling in elements from RPGs and dungeon crawlers to great effect. The gorgeous visuals and addictive, tactile combat make this a feast for the eyes, with intense action never more than a few seconds away. Grabbing loot and fighting off aliens in co-op is stupendous fun, and the game opens up in meaningful ways the more that you play. If you're looking for some high-octane, arcadey action with a fiendishly gripping gameplay loop, then this comes highly recommended.
Severed - 6/10
A valiant attempt at creating a touch screen-based action experience with real depth, Severed struts confidently for four or five hours – before ultimately devolving into the same old swipe-fest that it seems to detest. Still, this is a wonderfully presented experience, with a mystifying world and some intelligent level design. If you're the kind of person who appreciates tailored Vita titles, then you'll more than get your money's worth here. It's just a shame that the studio fails to cut the foray off before it gets stale.

Hands On: Is Nioh on PS4 a Cut Above Its Competitors?
A bizarre pre-release alpha demo for samurai Souls clone Nioh launched on the PlayStation 4 this week, and given that it's one of the rare releases that's piqued both Sammy and Ramsey's attention, we figured that we'd run a dual impressions article on the upcoming Koei Tecmo exclusive.
Hands On: Pyre Illuminates the Night Sky with Playable Demo at PAX East
After two massively successful releases, indie studio Supergiant Games has made quite the name for itself in the industry. Both of its titles – Bastion and Transistor – have been well received critically, and are some of the most beautiful games that we've ever seen. So when the dev announced just a few days before PAX East that it had a new game on the way, and that it'd be playable during the expo, we got just a teensy bit excited. And boy did we get rewarded.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Being Remastered for PS4
Arguably the greatest game in the Call of Duty franchise, Modern Warfare, is getting all ghillied up for the PlayStation 4, a leaked Target pre-order card has revealed. The image – which was posted on Reddit before promptly being deleted – shows the first key art for sequel Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which will release on 4th November for Sony's new-gen system.
Your Free PS4 PlayStation Plus Games Include Tropico 5, Table Top Racing
Last month's PlayStation Plus update was rock solid – and Sony's assembled another decent selection for May. While some of you may be disappointed to learn that Watch Dogs isn't part of the Instant Game Collection (we told you it was fake), Tropico 5 is actually a strong substitute – namely because this author genuinely believes that the strategy title is a better game.
