The latest issue of EDGE magazine is packing a load of new information about The Last Guardian, the spiritual successor to Shadow of the Colossus. For quite a while now, the heavily delayed game's been slated for a 2016 release, but we've heard very little about the project since it was brought up at E3 last year. Naturally, this lack of communication has the alarm bells ringing, but director Fumito Ueda's latest statement should put minds at ease.
In an interview with the publication, Ueda confirms that The Last Guardian is still expected to launch this year. "Since this is the year we will see the game's release, I do have some worries, but I'm also very excited," he said. If the title's truly still on course to launch in 2016, then chances are that we may be getting a date at Sony's E3 2016 press conference, which is just over a couple of weeks away.
Do you still believe? What are you expecting to see at E3? Have faith in the cat-bird-dog thing in the comments section below.

I was really excited about TLG when first announced, and then hung on to hope it was still going to come out. Then somehow it emerged at E3 last year but it looked no better than it initially did. I really hope at E3 this year we see some gameplay that doesn't look like a ps3 launch title.
@vegeta11 It has a specific artstyle so you won't see much in improvements there. It's the animations which were the most impressive part.
To be fair to Sony they said they wouldn't talk about TLG after E3 till they had a firm date in place because they know just doing more teasers is pointless now. I'm still predicting a September release.
I reckon we will see The Last Guardian at E3, maybe with a concrete release date for November or something. Or a few minutes of new gameplay.
My most anticipated game. Absolutely can't wait.
@Quintumply Hopefully they can get it out earlier than that. It would get buried in November; at that point they may as well just delay it to February when it's quieter.
@get2sammyb You're right, November might be too late. My thinking was that PSVR is in October, and The Last Guardian could well get lost in all of that.
September, like @adf86 suggested, is sounding more likely now that I think about it!
@Quintumply @adf86 AUGUST!
These reassurance topics are like gold to me.
god I hope so
@get2sammyb It would make sense for Sony to say "here it is, coming September" because the game doesn't need a big long build up to release (because it's had it ) and it's very well known in the core gaming space.
Sony must have one of it's exclusives this Fall, TLG might be a strong candidate, I hope. But won't be surprised if it got delayed too. COME ON TRICO!
@adf86 Totally agree.
Good. Now give me Gravity Rush 2 and Horizon and I won't complain for the remainder of the year.
Pff I'll believe it when I can slide it between my butt cheeks..
@Octane Amen, if those 3 all come out this will be a great year.
I have a feeling this game is going to be BAD. The development has been so rough...but I hope I am wrong! Big fan of Ico and SOTC
Sure.
If they dont show it at E3 then I wont believe it. That stupid "spoiler" excuse wont fly with me.
Crazy bet time: The Last Guardian will be released the week of E3 after a super awesome trailer/demonstration.
