Mighty No. 9, also known as Kickstarter Mega Man: The Eternal Struggle, supposedly has a release date. The side scrolling title has been delayed approximately 18,000 times previously, so we're just hoping that this date's going to stick - but only because we're sick and tired of writing about how the game's been pushed back again.
In a statement on the project's Kickstarter page, Keiji Inafune himself reveals that the title has finally gone gold. It'll launch for PlayStation 4 on the 21st June in North America, and the 24th June in Europe. In case anyone was wondering, No Man's Sky releases on those same dates.
It's not all relatively good news, though. Inafune also clarifies that the Vita version of the game "will follow at a later point" - so God only knows when that'll actually show up.
Anyway, are you glad that Mighty No. 9 seems to be on the home stretch? Let out an exhausted cheer in the comments section below.

Is it april 1st?
I don't think anyone cares anymore.
It keeps getting delayed and that keeps getting funnier.
Was that a Vampire: TES reference in this article?
No Vita? No buy!
Even if it's cross- buy I won't be buying it, I want them to have an incentive to actually release the game on the Vita and buying it just to wait for the cross- buy Vita version could send the wrong signal.
Inafune with his Mighty no.9 and other tricks is exactly the reason I always tell gaming websites not to simply endorse kickstarters: you can never guarantee its success unfortunately. I hope I'm wrong, but I have this feeling Shenmue will come back to bite lots of editors who let nostalgia cloud their judgment in their *sses as well. Maybe Sony's involvement (read: throwing money) will bail em out in that isolated case, but Ina made clear for me that Kickstarters by developers with inflated egos way past their prime shouldn't be supported and endorsed blindly.
I'll be surprised if this game is actually worth getting when it eventually does release. Inafune comes across as.. a bit dodgy at the moment. To put it politely. Guess we'll find out one day after it's been pushed back to 2029.
I gave up on this game a long time ago.
Apparently it just went gold so guess it's happening. On everything else thats called nintnedo/vita....meh.
@Tasuki Ironic, I gave up on FFXV years ago, namely when it was announced as a 13 title 3 years before 13 hit.
Oh and when they wanted to use the just cause 3 engine because feature creep.
I'm done with this game. At this rate we won't get this game in the vita's lifetime. Lost any excitement I've had for this.
They can keep it to themselves....
I'm a little confused. This game gets delayed several times and it's hell on earth. Something like Ray man Legends gets delayed to come to other consoles a week before launch and woo it's a party?
At least it wasn't such a blatant "we want to make more money and annoy the developers". And before anyone says they were doing secondary Kickstart erst for the game and have PayPal donations, so does Yooka-LayLee.
This is why I think announcing anything any length of time before the release date is just a bad idea. The internet is a cesspool of vitriol and sarcasm with ongoing battles between who is right and wrong with fans lashing out because they can't play nice with anyone having different tastes. Careful guys, Japanese games are bad and the Japanese sales charts need to get some taste. That's a common one I've heard. Just remember dark souls is Japanese.
Oh, speaking of something I've actually wondered, @get2sammyb where's the guides for Ratchet and Clank? Ya do it for most other games, or haven't you written about Shenmue and how great the PS4 is enough in the past week that you're having withdrawal? I kid. I just wondered what determines the guides on the site. It would have been handy to get some guides on some ratchet trophies, since numerous sites mention different things. And it's really not helpful.
@BLPs
Rayman got a ton of flak for that, but you only saw that at Nintendo Life as the decision affected Wii U. MN9's delay affected all platforms, and the several KS campaigns and projects like anime series before the game hits is what people hated.
@sinalefa Well if it's the other things that aren't the product in question why hate said product? Hate the anime or the timing or whatever not the end result of the product. :/
I'm just eager for this game to be a distant memory.
It never looked good. Ever. And it disgusts me how much money was squandered on it.
Is anyone still interested in this game? I have lost faith in all things Inafune and I have zero interest in a game like this right now, would've been a different situation 1 year ago.
@BLPs Because they are dealing with consumer's money who were given an expectation on when the game released yet delay after delay, which in of itself isn't a bad thing. But when they wanted money for an anime, manga etc plus for another game, people had the right to complain that they should be focusing full time on finishing Mighty No 9 first wanting funding for other projects.
Tbh I lost all interest in this game the moment Capcom released the Mega Man collection.
Well you guys let me know if its any good, ill be playing No Mans Sky
I lost faith when the guy asked for more money
I actually laughed out loud when I read that the game was delayed again.
It's not delayed any more than every other PS4 game in existence was. It's just that, man... This was supposed to be a return to form. Yet he made the game more like Azure Striker Gunvolt than MegaMan. Shooting to "pause" enemies then dash through them? Come on Inafune, we wanted Mega Man not Azure Striker.
Did anyone already make the joke that this will be given a 20XX release date? Yes? I'll leave now.
So we can only buy and enjoy games if we are 'hyped' about them? Lol I guess we are all slaves for the advertising!!
Looks like it's been a bit of a labour of love. If it's a good game I'll get it.
If the game is good I will get it. The delay, hype, etc are irrevelant, a good game is a good game, end of story.
(Having said that the art does look blanndddd)
Also the 3ds version has been pushed back.
All handhelds come at a later date.
They keep on it be on the NX too.
This whole saga has been hilarious, in all honesty I think the game looks naff.
