Perhaps one of the biggest selling points of Dragon Quest Heroes II is that it's an open world adventure. While the first game certainly had big areas to explore, these locations served primarily as battlefields where you could grind for items and experience. However, in the upcoming sequel, you'll be able to trek across vast expanses of land as you go from one quest to the next.
Recently, Square Enix shared details on the title's open world design via a live Japanese broadcast, which we've embedded. Starting at around the 24 minute mark, the video goes over exploration, a bit of combat, and a few other systems. Dragon Quest Heroes II is due out in Japan later this month, but it doesn't have a Western release date just yet.
Does this look like a world that you'd enjoy stomping around? Wear some hiking boots in the comments section below.

this looks like a really cool idea for a sequel.
Still waiting for a NA release date.
I was definitely put off by the constricting level design in the first one, hope this improves that. Really though I think we all just the next real DQ game, whatever number it is lol.
I'd prefer a new classic Dragon Quest game with turn based combat. As charming as DQ Heroes was, I got fed up of the constant hack'n'slash.
From watching this vid it looks more like a traditional JRPG to me than a Warriors game. Ni No Kuni comes to mind.
I wasn't too excited for the first one due to the lack of couch co-op but this one looks good enough that I just want to play it myself. I wonder if NX will be getting a Hyrule Warriors sequel? Probably on the NXDS.
And where's DQ Builders in the west?
At least I know I'll have a PS4 long before DQXI releases.
The first one was great and long as this sequel is more of the same but bigger which it looks like it'll be, the game will be brilliant.
Hmmm... Even though this is a spin off game I feel like it will (gameplay-wise) be better than FFXV. Maybe I should play them back to back for comparison.
